I once sent a text to my mate saying : Aye up fella, I've bought a Bass and told H that you advised me that it's a bargain & I'd be daft to miss it, so if she asks any questions it was cheap. cheers mate thanks for getting my back ......bye! His response: Yeh mate no worries but if Jane asks you have let me borrow a multi effects pedal on long term loan. I think all men fear their ladies especially when it comes to buying stuff that we apparently "Need"
i still really like my EUB and have no inclination to get a real one. Does this make me odd?
Yes but i'm in your club too lol I could not afford a proper upright even if I wanted one & nowhere to store one either......but go for it mate
Me too. I had my folk's names put in the book of rememberance on the date of their birthdays. Who gives a sh*t about the day they died. Think it's a little diffrent with celebs though - we tend to get the day they bought the farm on the news and in the papers rather than their birthdays. I've never had a text gag on a celeb's birthday !! Plus the OP contains the date that Gary entered the world as well as the day he threw a seven , so Barney's asking us to recall a full life rather then just the end of it.
Yeh i suppose good way of looking at it !
I wish I hadn't bothered!
No mate always worth noting stuff, I was worried I'd killed a thread by saying that But I've had my view changed by Dr.Dave,,,,,,,he's a real doctor ya know.....or at least I hope so Mr Moore was a true legend & should be remembered for his amazing talent. we lost a great !
Am I the only one here who thinks its a bit morbid, odd even, to remember the anniversaries of people dying? Who wants to be reminded about such sad events? My wife can't remember when her parents died (well, roughly, obviously, but couldn't tell you the date unless she looked it up) and we never mark the occasion in any way. But we regularly talk about them and the fun, happy times we had with them. Much better, I think , to remember the good things rather than the bad. I often play Gary Moore's music, and Hendrix, and Peter Green, and a bunch of other long-dead artists, but I couldn't tell you when any of them died. Personal preferences I guess, but it can't be healthy dwelling on gloom and doom all the time can it?
Aww thank god. I thought i was the only one who thinks like this. I pay respects to peoples birthdays not their date of death. My mum included
Why am I me and not someone else? I'd still like to know.
Wrong question....what if you were someone else & you met yourself & didn't like you ? Or if you met yourself & realise you fancied yourself.....would you take yourself out on a date ? Aww now I'm going to be thinking about this for ages now -
I don't need the music .......my mind is glowing neeeee noooor neeeee noooooor

Me: "So little man, what did you do today at play school?" Mini Fumps: "We drew-dud dinosaurs" Me: "Ho how did you manage to get them to stand still for long enough" Mini Fumps (Without looking up from his colouring in): Tut "Don't be silly Daddy they are extinct" -
I wonder if they will lower the action to a gnats c*ck level

When my boy was about three or four years old we was both sat watching Cars just the little man sat there in his happy little world, I turn to him & ask "Whats your favourite colour?" He ponders this for about 5 minuets going "hmmm erm, errmmmm" I literally saw the flash of idea spread across his face His answer ? "Buns"......... I still laugh about it even to this day -
Wow I have literally only owned 5 basses (three electric, one acoustic & one upright) since I began playing which is about 13 years (And that include the three Basses I own now)

***Dons steel helmet*** I really like that, like what's said above though, not keen on that finish but i like the shape

I write poetry & find it very easy to write lyrics to riffs & fills. I just find writing riff almost impossible. I've written with people before where they have written riffs & I have put the song into sequence, if that makes sense ? a bit like a composer (But not as talented lol).

This should be interesting. Two albums that sum up your playing style.

In the early days Infectious Groves- Sarsippius Ark Metallica- Black Album/ or earlier stuff. When I first picked up bass I was a metal purist, I still like the music but after overdosing on this music I now wanted to play more melodic bass lines. Nowadays Air-Moon safari Ill Communication-The Beastie Boys Both albums delivery beautiful bass lines & I just think these are more what I play now -
That bass plays really, really well. DO NOT SELL. Ever.
No I'd never sell my bass......it's perfect for me

The darkest stuff that's ever happened to me on stage was when I was playing in Manchester, I'm playing the last few songs when I noticed one of the stage lights blink like something had crossed between me & the light (Ya know what it's like you cant see sod all through em) so I ducked down & to one side (Boxing instincts) and carried on playing. The gig went really well & we had a fairly good mosh pit going throughout. Anyway after the set we were packing up and one of the guys from the headlining act said "Jesus Christ that pool cue just missed you".....yep someone threw a pool cue that spun end over end & I ducked it just at the right moment.....Apparently a perfect timed move, that I had no idea I'd done lol Another was playing In a small pub in one of the local smaller towns, we had played there before & got an OK reaction so was happy to return, we were just starting the first song when a gang of lads who looked like extras from the film "Romper stomper" walked in and started throwing their weight about & shouting all sorts at us, the crowd was looking pretty sheepish & was starting to leave so I Stopped playing & told them over the mic in a very uncouth way "That if they did not leave the drinking establishment this instant they would receive personal harm & a dam good thrashing" I took my bass off and whipped my t shirt off ready for the impending battle. Unbelievably they backed down & walked out with their tails between their legs. later we found out they were local kids who looked worse than they were, just idiots who thought they were hard........It's lucky because we were outnumbered 4:1 & i was the only one in the band who'd ever been in a fight. By the way I'm not condoning violence or saying "Ooo look at me" but my god I think that was the only time I thought things was going to turn nasty

Reading this thread fully it looks like apparently I still own one as my main bass I love my bass to bits lol

I'm glad I can be of service. This reminds me of a time I went to see a friend of mine who was playing an acoustic set, now she is a big lass & knows it, but apart from being a stunningly talented singer & guitar-player-ist she is also a stand up comedian, a bloody very funny one at that. Anyway she comes on & and address the crowd with the initial banter like you do & the Inbreed wakes up at the back & wipes the drool of his chin long enough to shout "Get off ya fat bitch" ........She locks this monkey boy in her gaze & smiles......her set turns into a 10 minuet torrent of one liner insults that had the crowd literally in tears. After a while she asks him if he'd had enough smiled and said "Why am I asking ya I couldn't care less your still my bitch" then goes on to play a beautiful set with her gorgeous voice. It was one of them times when a crowd is really touched by her voice & went silent all the way through her songs. The next guy comes on & says straight to the heckler "I bet you feel like a right prick now" even before he'd said hello. Classic night
I had someone shouting "You're sh*t" after every song at an outdoor gig last August, so I took the mic and said "Well you can always f**k off and stop spoiling it for everyone else, can't you?" The rest of the crowd just laughed at him, so he sat down and kept his mouth shut afterwards until we were packing up, when he came over and said "You're not really sh*t" What a strange man...
I once had that years ago the reaction "Thanks dad" worked a treat. the guy laughed & was from then on on our side
