1. Hi guys I met with our very own Artisan last night & picked up my new (To me) Stagg Electric upright bass, i'm am hooked!!! I got home at 9:30 last night & played the bass until 2 this morning then to get up to walk the dogs at six......i believe with the right conditioning i could do this everyday & become a zen-upright player lol I have to say my left arm feels like i've been patting the gerbil for a month but my god its worth it. i have a fixed smile like a drunken cat from Cheshire. Now all i want to do is go home for the weekend & play more. The great thing about the upright for me is that it feels very natural & the spacing lets my clumsy fingers do what i want. I'm now a happy convert to the upright cause
2.
Enjoy! Music is good for the body and mind.
I think thats why i never really grew up

4.
Haha, fantastic! Hope you enjoy it..... I dig this thread, wonderful to see so many getting a buzz out of DB/EUB playing. It's been four years, and I still have a little grin on my face every time I pick it up
To be fair i still smile when i pick up my Bass guitar, I'm deeply in love with my Bass as I'm one of them lucky people who have found a bass that suits my playing & hand size perfectly, Its a beautiful bass..........but now with the upright as well it's like i have the exact dream set up i've always wanted. I used to think that an upright was always an unattainable dream & tonight i finally get to not only have a go with one......it's coming home with me afterwards.....yipee.......is it uncool to cuddle an upright? Added to this my bass guitar is white & my upright will be black (I have a weird thing about black & white patterns) ......almost too perfect.
5.
I know the feeling, I picked up a EUB on Tuesday and was bouncing around the house like a kid on Christmas eve. My better half thought I was losing my mind. Believe me, two days later and I am still giddy with excitement every time I look at it, its a great feeling!
I was running round last night playing silly buggers with the dogs & dancing with them.........i've even made room for it to live in .....Hayley already knows i lost my mind she stopped worrying years ago lol

15. .......awww now see what i did ? .........................goddam messed up my pants
16. How about a yorkshire Bass chat dance off ?
17. My first bass was a poor made cricket bat that never was. Action was a short bus ride from the neck, it stayed in tune for about three notes & the jack plug was dodgey & sometimes gave me a static shock. It didn't even have a manufacturers name on it..........i loved that Bass !
18.
hey fumps, just picked up a stagg (on the way home from a weekend mountain biking in yorkshire dales) and loving it...my Mrs thinks its the coolest thing since bass itself, first rehearsal with band next Sunday, I'll let you know how it goes!
Mate you have just said Bass & mountain biking in the same post.......i now love you lol I was out this weekend on my local trails........the forest missed me & the trails loved me this weekend. Good to see mate you have made the leap ! I told my other Bass playing mate i am getting a Upright & he asked if he could "Come round my house to play" lol .........................awwwwwwwwwwwwww now i'm getting giddy again
19. Yeh i was looking earlier.....seems like a summer band.
20. Yes thats them......a really good laugh to see them. it's one of them bands that have a different line up at every event. the sound on that was really crap which is a shame, but live they are great for a sunny afternoon with a beer in your hand
21.
I wouldn't branch out into something like that. I'd leaf well alone.
I walked into that one didn't i ?
22. Ok interesting indeed ! I have to say i knew he was not using any effects at the time, But if it is an home made Bass the sound quality was bloody amazing !! Just as an aside would it be possible to make a Bass body that is made up of crossed tree roots ? Like that but more smaller holes ? I'm thinking it would make an interesting looking Body......very Tolkien
23. I have bought a Big Muff from Simeon; It came in good time, was well packaged & great communication throughout. Top fella.......more than happy to deal with again Gav
24. Yeh i wasn't sold on the looks either but the sound was fantastic, very thick without being too muddy ......i know this does not make much sense but it was enough for me to start a major gas attack. I have never seen a Bass like that, so was just interested what it was
25. I have seen a Leeds based band called "Bassa-Bassa" several times over the years. A great band for a sunny afternoon. Anyway a few years ago i caught them at Kirkstall Abbey (Just a short walk from my house) festival. And when i was watching them i was really loving the Bassist's sound. I was planning to ask the bassist what his Bass was but he slipped away when they were packing up & i missed him anyway i was randomly looking through some pics & found a pic of it ......can anyone tell me what Bass guitar this is ?
