  1. SOLD Final price drop to £450 delivered before this hits eBay Price drop, now £475 delivered (extra discount for local collection) Fender American Professional Jazz Bass Maple Neck 2018 USA (Fully Loaded with Fender lightweight tuners) Purchased just this week from here, installed on my P bass for just a few minutes. Always been curious to try the P bass / J neck thing, but my left hand was cramping up and I don’t feel I can adjust to the slim nut. Oh well, back to my Player P neck which is great anyway. Lesson learned = if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! This was originally fitted to a Fender American Professional Jazz Bass, but it is in "as new" condition, it looks like it was removed without ever being played. It can be seen and inspected at my home in Southport. Will fit on a Fender Jazz or Precision that takes a standard 4 screw bolt-on neck (no screws or neck plate included in this sale). Postage to mainland UK address included. Will be sent well wrapped & boxed.
  2. I've had a couple of Jazzes but I prefer Precisions. The body shape, the sound, the looks, the simplicity of one volume & one tone. That said, I'm about to try a J neck on a P body for the first time ever. It's an itch I just have to scratch.
  3. Great dealing with Brian. Bought a stunning Fender USA Jazz neck from him. It arrived quickly, well packed, with great comms throughout. Deal with confidence. Thanks!
  4. Second time selling something to Brian (P bass pickguard). Once again he was a gent and paid up quickly. Deal with confidence.
  5. I got randomly sent that today by a friend so it must be doing the rounds. Hilarious!
  6. SOLD Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pounder P Bass Pickups. Boxed, with instructions, foam & screws Came to me in a P bass in which I’ve installed Fender CS62s instead, so these are no longer needed. Pretty hot, high output modern sounding pickup. £50 delivered.
  7. I mentioned her! Loved them until their 2000 split. Not paid much attention since
  8. A couple of my faves there. Also: Julia Ruzicka of future of the left (especially after seeing them live) Kim Coletta of Jawbox (check out the ridiculous tone on the song 'Cooling Card', or the whole 'For Your Own Special Sweetheart' album D'arcy Wretzky & Melissa Auf Der Maur of Smashing Pumpkins
  9. Is weight an important factor to you? I've learned that it is to me. If so, this may be useful to you. Here's the weight of recent P basses I've had. The first I had for several years, middle two were just 'passing through', and the last I plan on keeping, in part due to the weight: 2004 USA 'Series': 4.1Kg 2008 USA Standard: 4.2Kg 2013 MIM: 4.1Kg (including chunky Hipshot bridge) 2021 Player (Mex): 3.7Kg From what I've read, the 2013-16 American Standards are a really nice line, and weigh around 3.9Kg. I haven't seen much on a ballpark weight of the 2017-20 Am Professional or 2020-present Am Pro II, I'd be interested if anyone could chime in on that. I am really enjoying my 2021 Mex Player, and am about to put some CS62 pickups in it (can't vouch for stock pups, it came to me with SD Quarter Pounders), along with a KiOgon loom to USA Std specs. The weight (or lack of) makes it so comfy, I miss the rolled fretboard edges of a USA P a little, but it's such a nice, fairly slim neck and very playable neck anyway. I guess I could get the edges rolled by a guitar tech at some point if I wanted to. Very nice bass at the price point though. £500-600 used for a good one, I'm not convinced that a used USA made P is worth double that at around £1000-1200, but I haven't tried the 2013-16 Am Std or any of the Pros that came after them yet. You probably know this anyway, but get a P with a good comfy weight (I almost said "and balance" there, but I've never had a P that wasn't well balanced), and a neck that feels nice to play and doesn't strain your hands, and as they say "the rest is gravy"; you can change pickups, circuitry & hardware, but you can't do anything if you don't like the neck & weight.
  10. Loving the Big Black sleeve. Never seen one of these before. GLWTS
  11. Thanks for the replies. Never even considered flats before, they are expensive, but I guess last longer and don't eat your frets like rounds do. They felt nice on the short scale, but now I am back on long scale I feel I should try flats on my P bass sometime. I think the smooth feel of the above pictured flats was highlighted more than usual, as I'd put some stainless Roto rounds on a Squier PJ bass briefly, so obviously going back and forth running my hands over both sets of strings, they were like chalk and cheese, it felt a relief to go back to my usual nickel plated rounds, but I still keep thinking about how nice those flats felt! D'Addario Chrome XL say 'Warm / Mellow' on the packet, which I'm not sure is what I want, are any other flats brighter as you say TI are? Also are half rounds / pressurewounds a good kind of middle ground between the feel and playability of flats and a bit more brightness / zing that rounds give? I mean I don't expect mega zing from flats, but certainly don't want too mellow either, if that makes sense. I've seen mixed reports on Cobalts, with some loving them, whilst others reported rust issues. I'll have a read through some opinions on flats anyway.
  12. Fender Precision 13 hole pickguard (removed from Player series P, so no truss rod cutout), with screws. 3 ply Parchment (W/B/W). Still has protective film and sticker on. £20 delivered

  13. Just curious about these as despite playing for 25 years I’d never used flats before, until these arrived on a Mustang I briefly had. The smoothness / playability was something else, and I should probably have removed and kept them, but I snipped them off and replaced with rounds. So, does anyone think they know what these flats with blue silks are? They are gone so I can’t say what was on the ball ends. I wouldn’t rule out trying flats on my P someday. If I do, it would be something at the brighter end of the flat spectrum, if such a string exists, I’m not one for motown / dull muffled thud sound, and keep the tone fully open. So essentially if there’s a flat string which kind of sounds like a round, but with the nice playability / reduced fret noise etc, of flats, I’d be interested. Thanks
  14. Still available
  15. For sale is a passive EMG GZR PJ HZ pickup set. Boxed with detailed installation instructions, all wiring, connectors, pots, jack, screws, etc. As per the photos, note that both the P & J pickups have had the black plastic tabs removed, this was done in readiness for use in a different pre-wired loom. TBH I got tangled up in knots trying to figure it all out (think I bit off more than I could chew), in the end gave up & have since sold my PJ basses so have no use for this set now. Said tabs are present, but like I said they have been cut away from the pickup wires. No control knobs included with the set. This set would suit someone who is good at soldering and/or is confident they are able to install the pickups into their bass somehow, given the photos & description of the tab-less pickup wires. I’m a little sad that I never got to try these out, but such is life. £85 delivered, please PM me if interested, thanks.
  16. Martin bought some strings from me. Paid quickly & had no choice but to be patient through postal strikes. Cheers!
  17. This is gorgeous. Amazed it’s still here. GLWTS
  18. Brian bought a Mexican Fender Precision from me. Paid up quickly with great comms & was a true gent throughout. A credit to Basschat

  20. SOLD For sale (no trade offers please) is a Squier by Fender Vintage Modified Precision PJ bass from 2013 in lovely Candy Apple Red with rosewood fingerboard. Comes in Fender shaped hard case. Long scale, right handed. This is a really great bass that punches above its price point. It has a normal precision nut width of 1.625 inches, but a slim and very playable front to back thickness, measured with digital calipers as just 0.792 inches at the 1st fret and 0.918 inches at the 12th fret (neck profile near identical to the American Specials that were known for their slim necks). Bought from another Basschatter, as a kind of stopgap bass whilst waiting for something else to come up. That is now here, so I need to let this one go. Excellent used condition, a few minor marks consistent with age and normal use - mainly some small marks near the jack as shown, and a tiny lacquer chip on back of headstock. No dings or chunks missing, and no marks visible from playing position. Solid agathis body, amber-tinted lacquered maple neck, with rosewood fingerboard, lemon oiled on recent string change. Strung with GHS Boomer nickel roundwounds 45-105, loads of life left in them. Gloss headstock with 70s style decals. 3-ply BWB plate with usual scratching on it. Bass weighs an insanely light 3.2Kg (7.2lbs) on my digital luggage scales and certainly feels like it. Easily the lightest and most comfy to play P bass I've ever tried. Stock open gear tuners, Hi-Mass bridge, & Fender Designed Alnico P pickup and DiMarzio style jazz pickup. I had a KiOgon VBT (Volume - Blend - Tone) wiring loom installed, with Switchcraft thru-body side jack. I put a set of black plastic jazz knobs on, just really to give a point of reference for the blend pot, even though it has a centre indent anyway. I will also include the stock push-on domed knobs. There are some great tones to be had when sweeping the blend knob. The wiring loom has solderless screw terminals, so if you like to tinker, it would be easy enough to change pickups. One thing I have to mention is the gorgeous Candy Apple Red finish. It's really hard to capture this on photos, but in person it looks killer, and has a lovely copper / burnt orange tint to it that you can only really appreciate in person. The case is a quality, well padded Fender shaped hard case. It is a little beat up but still rock solid. The latches all work and there is an under neck tab pull pocket. The keys are present but I just tried and it seems the lock doesn't work as it's just spinning round. Could be fixable, I don't know, I've never tried to lock it in all the years I've had it anyway. It's a great case anyway and lighter than the newer style Fender ones. Price includes postage to mainland UK address. Collection possible from Southport, or meet-up in North West within reason. I will knock 30 quid off the price if anyone collects. Otherwise, postage is for Parcelforce 24 hour next day, fully protected, trackable delivery (live tracking possible on the day). I should be able to ship within 1 working day of payment being received. Feel free to check my Basschat feedback and please PM if interested, or wanting more photos. It really is a great bass for the money, you'd be hard pushed to find a lighter, more comfy P bass without paying silly money for something custom! NO TRADE OFFERS WHATSOEVER PLEASE. I don't need any more basses, just some money and space back.
  21. £15 posted D’Addario EXL160S Short Scale nickel roundwound medium gauge 50-105 strings. I bought these for a Mustang, not realising that you need medium scale strings for a string thru bridge short scale bass until I’d put them on. After which I barely touched them until the medium scale strings I should’ve ordered to begin with arrived a few days later. So, they were cut for a string thru Mustang but tapered before the nut, so I guess they should fit any non string thru bridge short scale bass. If you’re unsure, please try and find out or contact me. I’ve never sold strings before but they cost £24 new (same seller has them at £29 now just weeks after) so it seems silly to bin them if they can be of use to someone.
