Got to keep the gear moving! I am just rationalising my position to one of clarity as they say! As always kids, dont try this at home Steve
I'm doing the same Steve. I was telling someone today that I've got my gear down to a maneagable level. They asked me what that was, and I replied: "6 basses, 4 guitars, 1 upright bass, 3 amp heads, 3 cabinets, a bass combo, a guitar combo, 2 pedal boards and a box of leads". They struggled to see how that lot was a rationalisation, but it made sense to me at the time :-) Had they seen me 3 months ago, they would have shudderred :-)

Not sure whether you're interested, but I've listed loads of stuff for sale today on ebay. Vintage fans, take a look :-) Something for everyone I reckon, and hopefully pretty reasonably well priced, let me know if you want anything team and it's yours :-) http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZcliftonvintagebassman

Hi all, I've got a Boss CEB-3 Chorus pedal, and I don't like it. It makes no discernable impact on my sound and looks crappy. So I want another one, a decent Chorus pedal. I use EBS gear and a couple of vintage jazzes (the first is a fretless and the other are all fretted). I'd like to know what people think is the best Chorus pedal... I'm going to use it in an acoustic context, and need one by err, Thursday! Let me know what you think people! thanks :-)

This is an add for one of the oddest and most amazing basses I've ever owned...! This is one of the rarer Roland GR models, with the sophisticated bass processor including one CPU per string to aid tracking. Launched around 1986, the GR77b cost around £3,000 new. The GR77b is a six-voice polyphonic synthesizer based on the classic Roland JX8P and mounted in a substantial floor unit. Patch selection is via the footpedals, other options are controlled via membrane buttons (all working) - an edit map, which sticks on the unit magnetically, is included. The GR77b outputs MIDI data but does not respond to it, so it's purely a sound source for the guitar or a MIDI interface for it. Patch storage is via M16-C cartridges, which are quite commonly available on eBay and were shared with many Roland synths, I will include one cartridge (though it doesn't have JX8P patches on, it can still be used to store new patches). The G77b is a four-string, 34" bass guitar with graphite stabiliser for improved tracking. It's very well balanced, though a little heavy, and includes dual pickups as well as the dedicated Roland pickup. It's fully playable as a bass guitar without the electronics, and has (IIRC) Ernie Ball super-slinky strings I fitted a while ago. Proper bassists that have tried it have commented on how well it plays, in much the same way that the regular GR700 impresses. I had one of these before and sold it to Phil Oakey of Human League fame. Nice chap but the old bastard didn't leave me any feedback. This set-up is incredibly rare in this condition, and would have set you back £3000 in the olden days, but I'm selling it for £700, or a trade for something sexy. Current users of this bass system include Ministry, Justin Medal Johnson, BEck and of course, the Human League! Pictures later today, but you can check some out here... Hi all, I've got for sale 2 guitars! They are: 1958 Silvertone/Danelectro U1. This is the first generation Danelectro, with 1 lipstick pickup. With its original finish and original pickup and wiring this is a rare guitar, especially in the UK. The guitars neck is straight as an arrow, and all the hardware is original. It plays fantastically. This giutar is a bit of a project however, with the back chrome cover plate missing, som refinishing on the back and the pickup is moving around a bit (an easy fix). This guitar if perfect would be around £500, so I'd say £250 is a fair price. Ready for your delictation, and pics will be available later if you want to see them. 1940s/1950s Czech Parlour/Archtop guitar with Original Case! This guitar is a great 40s/50s Czech archtop which plays beautifully. This old jazzer has a wonderful sound, courtesy of a reasonably high action. 've used this as a slide guitar, which is perfect for it. This guitar has the well travelled original case, and has been with me for about 5 years, I'm sad to see it go. A guitar with tons of history, for only £150. Pics later too. Any questions, please ask!!!
Good God, no! It looks like it's been badly sprayed with something that reacted to what was already there, and then "reliced" to within an inch of its life, (with the roughest sandpaper possible) to hide the bodge job.
I've seen a few like this and I'd say that it is original, finished age in very odd ways!

I remember being offerred one of these for £2500 once and I thought that was overpriced, but, I gotta say this guitar looks beautiful. http://cgi.ebay.com/1965-orig-Candy-Apple-...1QQcmdZViewItem I gotta say this is the perfect accompaniment to my 66 in Candy Apple Red. Not that I'd pay £4,000 for it though...! Damn GAS :-)

Hi mate, I really like the bass and I admit it is beautiful, I'd be happy to make you an offer in line with the price of this bass... I bought a near mint condition 66' Fender Coronado 6 string for $675. That's £325. It's even got the original case. This is overpriced for one of Fenders least desirable guitars!

No, Bravewood have stopped doing restorations. This one is overpriced, it should be half that figure for what it is. You can pick up a 64/65 in the US for about $4000 get it shipped, pay the duty and you'd still have enough money for a few pints and a curry.

If it was me - and I'm being candid here - I'd maybe not jump at a parts bass that I hadn't put together myself. That's not to say that nobody would be, but for something like this, people are often very picky. A refinned pre CBS jazz is going to set you back (if you can find one) about £2300 - £2800 so you're in that ballpark. It looks like a great bass, and even if it's just a visual first impression, i tlooks like it would knock spots off a custom shop reissue. The neck itself looks beautiful, 66' is one of the best years for Fenders as collectible legend goes... If I win Lotto Euromillions I will buy this bass off you and love it. I will also then amass the worlds greatest collection of vintage Fender Jazz Basses, but that's another story! This is a promise and I will swear by it!

I suffer like the rest of you, but have alwasy had my 'stock' basses, a 66' Jazz and 68' Jazz. I would never part with these. On the other side I've had something like 2 - 300 basses and guitars (I've got photos to prove it to!), but none have satisfied me either. Part of buying something is the huge endorphin rush you get when you hand over the money. I value this momentary rush more than I do say the steady security that saving money gives me (although now I'm 26 I'm trying to save as much as I can!). Part of it is an immature thing with me. When I was a kid I had no money, and so I had to save for months to get something. Now I work 5 days a week if I want something (from a £3 CD to a £1500 Wal) I feel I deserve it then and there. But the fact that I can get something straight away means I've not really 'earned' it (in the sense I did when I was a kid) so I resent it. My 2 favourite basses, well, I saved and traded for a year to get the money for the 66 and practically built the 68 from parts, so I've invested time and effort into them, which translates to love. Yup, I love those 2, but the rest are transient... I' trying to cure myself. I've got 8 more basses, 2 sets of pedals, and 6 guitars to go and I'll be sitting on £3,000 no debts, a full ISA, a living room with only 6 guitars in it as opposed to the 30 that were in there in the past and a fuller life. Or a bank account that will get smashed for a Pre-CBS Jazz!
What is a RIFFLE? I guess its a typo....
I wouldn't be surprised if ebay had some rules about 'rifles'...
