  1. Visit the site most days, have done for years, only just stumbled upon this. A worthy cause- I'm in!
  2. ... and SOLD to @danpb Enjoy, pal. Nice to meet you.
  3. Still here. Still sounds glorious but doesn't leave the spare room nowadays.
  4. NAD! Had one on order with PMT which got delayed until mid May... so I cancelled it and bought the one off eBay for the incredibly reasonable price of 825 posted, with hot covers bag, original box... seems barely used and the seller seemed lovely, genuine and responsive. I've not used it much today, and I've only got a little room to try it in, but I'm pleased so far! Love the looks of it, and the sound is so nice, but also so easily manipulated. I can sound gritty and punchy, or fat and smooth, with a few easy alterations. I think this'll be a real workhorse of an amp for me, fingers crossed. Build quality appears to be incredibly good too, almost tank-like. Did I say it looks banging? It does.
  5. No, you're absolutely right. I expected very little from them, and I got even less than that. However, I will mention: they were unaware I bought it second hand, this wasn't mentioned in my email. I said I owned one of their amps, and that I needed help identifying the problem with their product. They failed to respond at all. That's not great on their behalf. I'm not here to put people off them, the amps are unique and I was dead pleased with mine until something went wrong (which is abnormal).
  6. Funnily enough... just waiting for my replacement amp- an ashdown ABM V 750 to turn up! Why did I go for them? Great tone and incredible customer support.
  7. I bought a GSS baby sumo off here which worked very well and was great with my pedalboard for 6 months or so... unfortunately though it died soon after at a rather warm gig. I sent it to my tech who, firstly, identified that it was putting out 78V DC... (how it didn't fry my Barefaced cab is a mystery). He requested assistance from GSS, suggesting that he can take a look at the circuit board, but they weren't very helpful at all and thus, I've had to scrap the amp completely. I too, sent GSS an email directly prior to this asking if they do repairs, and they didn't even respond...
  8. I think this is next on the list for me. I would like an amp that the company actually stands behind for once. Its nice to know they'll sort it out if something goes wrong.

  10. Gigged this on Saturday at a small pub. First half in 25 watt mode, sounded glorious, no problems. Second half in 100 watt mode, barely cranked on the master volume, and it still didn't miss a beat. Used the modern tone stack all night with a little bit of grit to it. Sounded awesome. My only issue is the size and weight of it- I just need something smaller! £1000 collected from Derby.
  11. Reduced to £1050. Not really in much rush to move this on. The sooner I sell it, the sooner I'll regret selling it.
  12. Hi all It's time to move this behemoth on: I've gone digital to save my glass back! This is a Fender Bassman 100T, a 100 watt tube amp that looks as good as it sounds. I bought this before lockdown in 2020, and have used it on approximately 20 gigs since. It's got oodles of volume and warm bass tones, and when I've played it through my Barefaced cab, it can drown out a small jet plane. I've predominantly used the vintage tone stack for classic Fender bassman tones, however the modern overdrive tone stack is notoriously excellent and can give you various different types of crunch or clean (just ask the Nothing but Thieves or Royal Blood bassists!) Switchable to 25 watts or even "silent recording mode", it makes an excellent addition to the studio also. The silent recording mode means that you don't need a speaker load whilst playing- very useful. There is also a switch to change between 2, 4, or 8 ohms as required. Also on the back panel is the Fender automatic bias, which does exactly what it says on the tin, and warns you when there are valves that aren't playing ball. Each time you turn the amp on, this bias checks each valve, balances them as required, and informs you if there's any valve problems. It's even possible to make the valves run warmer or cooler in order to perfect that tone you're after. This amp comes with a big beefy flight case which could withstand a small atomic blast (as if the amp wasn't heavy enough on its own...) This flight case has lived in the garage for three years and is showing the beginnings of rust on the outside. I usually opt for the lighter bump cover which is also included. *EDIT* Previously, here, I explained that I'd had issues with the amp, involving a slight distortion in the modern tone stack. These have since been fixed by Pro Audio Services who were near Swadlincote. In the last quarter of 2023 so far, the amp had absolutely smashed three gigs and a few hours of home practice, at both 25 watt and 100 watt mode, with no issues whatsoever. It is CRYSTAL clear. It's an absolute powerhouse, which is sadly getting retired now for something lighter. The amp comes with a foot switch also, which allows you to change between the vintage channel and the overdrive channel. Oh, and did I mention its just passed a PAT test? Oooohh. Anyway, this is pick-up only if you're interested. I'm not keen on shipping it as, including the cases, it weighs just shy of five metric tons. I'm based right in the middle of the country, and can even drive to meet up somewhere if required. Cheers for looking- I hope this interests someone
  13. low_qual_HD 720p_MEDIUM_FR30.mp4 Fun bank holiday gig. Not sorted out the proper videos yet nor grabbed the audio from the mixer, but here's a quick phone clip. Great crowd, penultimate song.
  14. My first band (of two!) was a 4-piece rock/pop covers band, consisting of me on a bass guitar I'd borrowed, my mate's sister as lead singer, and then two guys in their 50s that lived locally and weren't half bad in the guitar and drums department. Having our young, talented female singer, we were able to cover a couple of fun tracks by the Gossip or P!nk that people recognised and most other bands in the burton area would avoid due to the remarkably high-pitched singing required. We did a few gigs and it always seemed to go down well enough. Admittedly, we did play to a few empty pubs here and there, but 25 gigs later and we almost had a name for ourselves. I felt like a rockstar, what with my 18 months of bass guitar experience... Alas it all came crashing down when the lovely singer quit. Finding a new singer was impossible, but we "lucked" upon somebody that was willing to give it a go eventually. Rehearsal number one came and went and a team meeting with the original three members was had to discuss the new candidate. Two of us voted that he had a terrible terrible voice, akin to the noise a dog makes when you stand on its tale, whereas the other one seemed to like him. Half the problem was the song choices being more attuned to a females voice, and not the voice of a broken car horn that this lad had got. Clearly, the vote was ignored as "a singer is better than not having a singer". As much as I begged the other two to not book any local gigs in, they were keen to go back out there and booked us into a pub on the burton circuit known to host VERY good bands on Sundays early afternoon. Anyways, long story short: The drummer was late. The new singer set up his drumkit... backwards. The lateness meant that we didn't sound check properly. The singer himself had bought a new microphone, a £20 wireless p.o.s. that immediately caused feedback. First half, the singer forgot almost every verse to every song. Second half: didn't happen. The manager approached the band during interval and told us we were not going back on. I couldn't have been more embarrassed, but also so grateful to not have to play any more, it was atrocious. Hey, here's my gig diary entry.
  15. My fender bassman is said to be "flat" with bass at 2/10, mids at 10/10 and treble at 2/10. This is generally how I play it, but tweet settings on my helix for my live sound. Even then, I push the mids so the stingray growls (but never honks!) Mid scoop? Nah, I play the mid mountain. /\
  16. I got my bassman back from repair! Wahhoo
  17. Good lord, that's a lot of pedals! I'd get lost tap dancing on those. I have three buttons on my hx stomp and that's two too many for my liking.
  18. It certainly did. The sooner I get this thing serviced, the sooner it'll be out gigging full time again, and I can't wait. Me little amps just don't cut it.
  19. My first bit of studio recording (with video). I've been using my spare amp recently at gigs as the fender needs a service. However it preformed flawlessly yesterday and I have to admit, I miss using the beast!
  20. Forgot to report back: Gig was great. Had the room dancing on tables. That's good, right? 323379573_501412385425137_9220103407998782994_n.mp4
  21. We are at the Jinnie in Rolleston, *Staffordshire. Sold out at 150 tickets. Looking forward to it, but not looking forward to the 8am wake up the next morning for a 10 hour shift.
