  1. Yamaha DXS18 subs with DXR15 tops. I'm still blown away at the capabilities of just one 15 on its own, so two of these plus some 18 inch subs? Phenomenal. Not cheap mind, each band member is having to put in £600 for a second hand system. Just moved to a digital mixer as well, for the IEMs. That'll allow each person to control their own monitor mix on their phones which is mental when you think about it.
  2. Thanks for the above. I think it'll be an easy rectify, but I've just got to break the habit of moving my thumb up to the D string. I do a lot of muting with both hands almost naturally, and I've not necessarily heard any issues whilst I'm playing as I'm sure my left hand covers the muting issues which my right hand might fail to do, however I conducted a test: If play an E note on the G string, with my thumb sitting on the D string at I used to, and immediately following this, I mute the A,D and G strings, there's still a low E rumble from E string. I THOUGHT my trailing thumb angle was enough to be covering this string too, but apparently not. Further to this, when I'm completing "quick fills" with maybe 16th notes etc, the act of moving my thumb quickly off the A string to the D string actually plucks it quietly. That'd be negated now that I know I don't have to move it at all! An interesting one to look out for- and I have to hand it to BassBuzz on YouTube. I normally skip over the easier lessons but I'm glad I caught this one.
  3. Having gone through a BassBuzz beginner/ intermediate standard lesson, most of which was nothing new to me, I've come across what I believe to be a glaringly obvious bad habit that I've picked up and I wonder if anyone else is, unknowingly, doing the same? I follow my fingers up and down the different strings with my thumb trailing, in order to mute the strings above. If I'm plucking the E string, my thumb is on the pick up. The A string, my thumb is on the E string. The D string, thumb is on the A string and muting the E string simultaneously. Here's where I reckon I've been going wrong. When I pluck the G string, my thumb is on the D string. Which, as far as I can tell, is entirely unnecessary and also a bad habit. For two reasons: 1) my plucking fingers naturally mute the string above. 2) by moving my thumb onto the D string, the E string occasionally becomes unmuted and begins to hum sympathetically. So, 9 days of isolating with covid to go, and I'll be trying to break this habit... unless anyone can see a reason why I shouldn't? Cheers
  4. Line 6 G10S user here. Ridiculously good system imo.
  5. I really don't need a second one of these.... Right?
  6. Line 6 G10S. Not a problem at all with it. Great bit of kit.
  7. Went to see the opening night of Nothing But Thieves' new album tour two days ago. Absolutely awesome. They were backed by a band called Yonaka who were pretty epic too actually. Great live tone. Very animated.
  8. Mine --> So much room in that bootay. Don't have to put the seats down, and it fits my 2x12 and bassman head without any issues.
  9. A bit of a minimalist approach compared to some of the pedal boards on here, but it serves me well. 🤷‍♂️ Currently have no need for anything too dirty. Running it through a Fender Bassman 100T for the most part, although the ampeg at the end allows for headphone practice too.
  10. I feel like that is remarkably similar to my go-to tone. If it helps, I play a Yamaha Bb734A set to passive, through an ampeg pre.
  11. Having never played in a band before, I was invited to come try out for one. They asked me if I'd got my own amp and I was honest and said "yeah absolutely, I'll bring it." They didn't ask if I'd gotten my own bass but fear not: I borrowed my sister's bass guitar. I did have an amp and it DID seem loud at home, but alas when I turned up with my 25 watt peavey practice amp I think the band were rather underwhelmed. I plonked it down on the floor next to the guitarists Marshall stack which towered above it and that was the last we heard of the amp for the night.
  12. I've had a genz benz streamliner 900 which has a very well known valve front-end that gave a nice tone- for a hybrid it sounded great... very different from the SS amps I've used. But.... its got nothing on my Fender Bassman 100T which I adore. That things does everything I need it to, and sounds glorious doing it. It has something that the other amps didn't, and yeah this may be a bit placebo effect-y, but it's just got heft. ... and can be put into 25watt mode or silent mode for home use too. I think, get one, and if you don't like it, you can sell it on to the next person that needs to see what ask the fuss is about!
  13. This was much harder than I expected. Needs work. But, here's a progress report nonetheless
  14. Hey. I'm new to this whole "record yourself during lockdown" business, and haven't got a laptop or a computer to work with unfortunately.... So here's an attempt made with a zoom h1n, a concoction of cables, and some horrificly mediocre video editor on my phone. ANY feedback on my technique is always welcome. Self taught with a lot of bad habits. I'll be posting some more vids soon, but playing with fingers (preferred) rather than pick.
  15. Ah I thought I'd been a smart little detective too! Don't I feel like a numpty.
  16. Are you sure you've never tried it? This is the second time you've advertised posted the same amp in reply to this forum 😉
  17. Best buys: fender bassman 100t, Zoom h4n for recording stuff. Line 6 g10s wireless. Purple coloured Dunlop pick. Worst buys: adaggio flatwounds (I think?) and the mooer tender octaver which promptly imploded. It's been an odd year.
  18. This changes daily for me but: Muse - knights of Cydonia RHCP - torture me, Cmon Girl and Turn it Again Stevie W - Master blaster Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine? Radiohead - Exit Music
  19. Just moved into the valve World. Loving the bassman 100t, especially in 25 watt mode or silent record mode whilst at home... Can't wait to play it in anger. Slowly figuring out the traditional fender tone stack, but certainly can produce a vast variety of sounds.
