Last call for my 2002 Ric 4003 Fretless before it goes to Vintage & Rare in London who want to sell it for £1895 - it'll probably end up in a bank vault somewhere, played even less than it is now . In a fair market, I reckon, given what fretted 4003's are going for its worth that kind of money - it's rare, they dont make em any more & they didnt import many to the UK... so it'll can only appreciate in value. But if any of youse is interested then I'm open to offers [b]WELL[/b] below that, in the knowledge it'll go to a good home. It'll make a great addition to your bass armoury, and has a great range of flexible tones which is why Tony Levin & Nick Beggs like this kind of instrument. I'm changing the price - AGAIN - to £1500 o.n.o - which has got to be a bargain, given the long term value potential and rarity of this bass. [b]*And I'm open to a trade or part trade plus some ££ to make up the equivalent value*[/b] This is *really* nice original one - no mods or changes - it is 'as it was' when it came out the factory, which can only add to its value long term, eh? It genuinely has had 'light studio & bedroom use only' - the body is immaculate, the neck faultless, and the case is tidy & pretty unmarked for its age - it's not been battered and contains all the original bits n pieces, including the (unused) dusting cloth, keys, and literature. Any interest? PM me if you wanna make me an offer or for more info or more pics.. it's close at hand (East Sussex) so I can shoot whatever you wanna see! It's your last chance to get one of these fine instruments now the site has banned all Ric adverts Marc [attachment=133466:photo(1).JPG][attachment=133467:photo(12).JPG][attachment=133468:photo(4).JPG][attachment=133469:photo(3).JPG][attachment=133470:photo(7).JPG][attachment=133471:photo(8).JPG]

[quote name='BigRedX' timestamp='1337948903' post='1667869'] Did he ever use the Mouradian CS74? [/quote] he most certainly did/does! Clips of the most recent Yes Tour in 2012 with new singer Jon Davison show that bass very much in use

Does anyone here have a Mouradian CS74

well, I know *one* guy who's got one... it's kinda green and kinda got CS written on it ;-) Given your post was dated Feb 2011, how did you get on with this project? Did you complete it? if so, I bet there's a story to tell - any pics? Best Marc - aka TGM -

[quote name='Bassassin' post='1159751' date='Mar 12 2011, 07:40 PM']Wish I could afford this - this is probably the loveliest stock Faker I've seen, and a cosmetically very accurate copy of the checkerboard/full-width inlay 4001 from around '72/early '73. All it needs is a Toaster, some Wavy Grover tuners (or the superior copies), a perspex thumbrest & a notch cut in the middle of the mute cover! Btw GreenMan - quote tags are useful (and polite) if you're gonna quote. Jon.[/quote] Sorry Jon, no intention to offend - :-( amend made & thanks for the additional info on this. It really pains me to part with it, but perhaps it was a little impetuous purchase given the uncertainties in my life.. -

[quote name='Bassassin' post='1144889' date='Feb 28 2011, 08:03 PM']Yours isn't a Kasuga - I found a logo'd one the same as yours on the Rickenfakers Facebook page - this one's branded as JooDee, which was a brand used by the Yamaki factory. Yamaki's best-known brand was Daion, these are spectacularly rare & can sell for a fortune. I had no idea they did a Rickenfaker, and unsurprisingly, now I want one... Anyway, here's the FB JooDee - identical binding & inlays, apart from the colour it's a dead match: Jap Fakers used a lot of the same parts, regardless of the factory - it's a common misconception that hardware & pickups were made in-house, this was seldom the case, possibly never. Gotoh, Chushin & Nishin Onpa produced a lot of the bits used in many 70s & 80s JapCraps, plus there will have been a variety of other hardware & electronics manufacturers who aren't yet identified. J.[/quote] You can have mine if you want.. It's a seriously lovely Faker, looks the biz & sounds it too, but sadly my cash-flow is 'furked' & I need to get some pennies in quickly. So if this attracts interest it'll have to go. Ho de effin' how... M

Sorry bout dead link.. I'll post copies of the picks from my own file. -

[quote name='Bass_Guardian' post='1157881' date='Mar 11 2011, 11:52 AM']I wouldnt quite say the preamp cost £350 ive got a quote from hanson gutars offering for just over £100 and if i get taxed on it on the way here they will cover it. Still a cracking price for a cracking bass ive got the four string version [/quote] Well that's what it USED to cost, or there abouts, So I was told, plus the fitting etc. Anyway, sounds like Lakland/Hanson living up to their excellent reputation for customer service ) -
Cash-flow crisis & lack of sale of other basses means I gotta move this 'new to me' Faker, which recently came to me from Bulgaria. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it's simply that I gotta eat Japanese made, the brand/provenance is not known but definitely one of the best of it's kind. Bassassin here matched it to a logo-d one he found on the Rickenfakers Facebook page - "branded as JooDee, which was a brand used by the Yamaki factory. Yamaki's best-known brand was Daion, these are spectacularly rare & can sell for a fortune." Allegedly. But I'll let it go for what I paid - just need to recoup investment, sadly. It is in extremely good condition for an instrument over 30 years old. The lacquer is still 9/10- only a couple of minor scuffs, and the paintjob is beautiful ( the pictures were taken by the previous owner who is not a photographer by his own admission). The pickups have enormous output, everything is working including the stereo jack, the pots are ok. The chrome parts are in pristine condition as can be seen, even the chrome pickup cover is there. As on some other Japanese basses like this one the bridge is slightly lifted at the back side, so there is a metal part added underneath it (in the hollow part) which holds the strings down- probably added by the previous owner. The truss rod is working. The bass went straight to the previous owner's luthier for fret leveling and set up. Also there was a slight delamination of the lower wing on the back side of the body which can be seen in the pictures but the luthier fixed that also and now it is as solid as it can be. It still has the original foam muter which works perfectly. The neck is straight and the action is good. The wood grain of the wings of the body is awesome. As can be seen the binding of the body is checkered. The bass sounds solid and with tons of sustain and roar as it should be. TRC sez 'electric bass' in a familiar script. The 'stereo sound' seems to be working, which is good! It looks the part & sounds pretty cool. The bass comes in the case pictured- brown leatherette on the outside in very good condition, strange interior but still very protective. The price is firm + shipping expenses- I am based nr Chichester in West Sussex. PM me if you're interested!
