To be fair, I do know D, A, F and F sharp. In fact I can find F sharp better on my bass than I can on my Mac.

Sounds a bit like me...

We were never anywhere near "gigging" though. But having said that, I left to join a "more professional" set-up, in January, and we're still nowhere near gigging... Maybe it's me? 😂

Once past the alcoholic (read no driving licence) drummers, and drug addled singers, I was in a band for a steady year, through JMB.
And I have some tales to tell...

Lovely, thank you for the fast response.

An enforced break due to our studio burning down (well, not quite, I hope) and RSI (pain in base of thumb), has meant I have at least had time to work on my £75 Gumtree acquisition - a 5 string Nanyo...
Now, I've never taken a bridge off a guitar before, so I'm wondering what this wire is?

I'm assuming it's just an earth, and if I shove it back into its hole, just leaving the wires to contact the bridge, everything will be fine and dandy, in about a year's time, when I put it all back together?
On a positive note, I can also confirm that white vinegar and baking powder works wonders on gunk and superficial corrosion on all the gold hardware:

Only left it in to soak for about 5 minutes - I didn't want to risk complete lack of gold... reckon patina is the way to go... 😀

Wonder if the OP's gear escaped unscathed.
So do I...
Although, I have given up worrying now.
Edit: Still no access - see what happens next week.

Well, still no update other than we won't get on site until power is restored and "dangerous materials" have been cleaned up from site.
At least it gives me time to sort insurance out.
MU is another good shout - I've just never thought of myself as a musician... lol

Looking at the photos online last night, the wind was blowing in the right direction for us. I haven't had any updates this morning though, only that the road is still closed.
Good shout on the house insurance - I'll take a look, thanks.

I'll take a look. Thanks.

It may be a bit late to ask, since tonight's practice was cancelled due to our rented industrial unit being on fire, but, please talk to me...
1. Can you get insurance to cover musical equipment in general, that covers for gigs etc (if we ever get any)?
2. Any recommendations for insurance for items kept in industrial units (contents cover)?
I realise I'm just rambling, but it's taking my mind off the events of tonight... Our actual part of the unit isn't yet on fire, nor does it seem water damaged, but my mind has already moved on to asbestos/contamination... when will we get our gear back/if we get our gear back... 😬

If he was in the UK, I'd offer to help him out, and accept payment in kind... 🎸

Yep, RBX 170, about 5 years old (mine's red).
Great sounding bass for the money.

Sunday morning musings... has anyone ever seen a SBK (See Through Black) nanyo with gold hardware (320 series)?
I notice the '96 catalogue lists SBK amongst the SGR (See Through Green) and SHS (See Through Honey Sunburst) options.
It would be nice to complete my Bass Collection collection... 😀

My weapon of choice too.
Lol, my weapon of choice is actually my fingers, but my band leader insists I play some of his songs with a plec, and I like to be flexible.

Dunlop Max Grip 1.5mm.

The seller has responded to my messages and I'm just trying to set up a time to meet...
Edit: And I bought it at £75. Saw no reason to quibble with the price - aside from some fret wear, it looks better in the flesh than it did in the ad photos.

I have no idea what's going on here, but I'm probably going to like the result...

Not what you'd call a looker...
That's exactly what I first thought when I saw a Nanyo (headstock especially)...
I dunno. That one there looks quite "retro" cool to me. 😄

Still a steal even after the work.
I reckon... It's just the bodywork letting it down. Still, should make a very light, playable 5-string...
That's if you can play 5 stings... It'll be a first for me, if I can get it.

If you decide not to bother would you let me know? I'm not going to do anything whilst you are trying to sort a deal.
Course I will. Thank you for not "gazumping" me! lol
As I say, I've contacted the seller, but still no response.

I've contacted the seller. I'll try to arrange to see it, as he's not far from me.

Insurance
in General Discussion
Posted
Just to close this one off, we got in to the unit on Thursday. Thankfully no damage to any of the gear.
Think we've been a bit lucky.
Still haven't sorted any insurance, though... 😳 but I did take my bass home with me.
