I've just bought a very cheap Ibanez SRX 390 on Ebay, and after a little maintenance it's sounding quite nice. It has a battery, and therefore I had assumed it's an active bass. However I've found a 2008 catalogue that suggests that it has "extra powerful PASSIVE full range pickups". It has high and low equalisers, so is the battery just running these? Link to catalogue: The reason I'm asking is, our rehearsal room has a Hartke amp, with two inputs - one passive, one active. So which one should I be plugging this bass in to? Sorry for the silly question, but It's all electrickery to me!

Join my Band has lead to some interesting experiences, for me. I'm sure there's a thread for that...

So, apart from No. 1, what's the problem? Just had a message from my drummer tonight. He actually appreciates a song choice I've made... I had previously been banned from making song choices... there is hope yet.

I'm 48 and relatively new to this, so what do I need to know?

So, just how many basses do you own ????

I thought I had a problem with 12. But it seems I could do with a few more. -
I'm convinced that when stings go dull, it's mostly because of the flat spots that are created in contact with the frets, not the actual accumulation of dirt in the string... Any fretless people have a view on this?

Fender Rumble 500 v3 combo - overdrive not working

Nanyo is now set to max treble, and a little bass, and I have plenty of overdrive... Why couldn't I find that setting with my frantic knob twiddling last night? lol -

Errrmm, Nanyo had no treble on. Who would have thought lack of treble would lead to such a drastic reduction in overdrive? -
Fender Rumble 500 v3 combo - overdrive not working

My bad. I must have had beer ears last night. I've just plugged my Yamaha into it, rather than my Nanyo, and it works...! -
I only noticed late last night when I tried to play some Muse, that it used to work, but now it does not. The amp seems otherwise ok, but the overdrive switch has little to no effect. Would there be a specific cause for this? Is it something I can fix with my trusty soldering iron, or do I need to find an amp tech/send it off to Fender?

Is it possible to have too many U-basses?
missis sumner replied to missis sumner's topic in Bass Guitars
The second ones you've linked to there are the same as the ones I've put on the SUB. But I'm sure there was a note somewhere that said they were only suitable for the SUB and not for the acoustic? Or was I dreaming? Edit: This is probably what I've seen: https://www.thomann.de/gb/pyramid_509.200_bass_ukulele_set.htm?ref=glp_alar_371112_2 "for use on solid body Ubass" -
Is it possible to have too many U-basses?

Hello Andy_L! I've not much to add either really, other than I'm a forgetful idiot... I bought a spare set of "Silver Rumblers" ages ago (I like to have spares). They are exactly the same as the ones that came on the Rumbler i.e. dark grey and rubbery. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zjQ_TfLIxS37Gal64YG6WdTCv6r-YCcC/view?usp=sharing Thankfully I've realised this before I've gone out and bought another set. The stings I've put on the SUB are different - they're silver plated roundwounds, I believe made especially for the SUB, and not to be fitted to the acoustic Rumbler? These are the ones: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1i9zsCcYEQ3CRwmxAvUa5dKX9er5oaJpE/view?usp=sharing Can anyone confirm this - or are there now metallic strings available for the acoustic, as well? -
I like it.

Oh, I didn't know you could get Silver Rumbler strings! I'm off to Google... -

Hello Linus! Fancy seeing you here... I have a Rumbler, and a red SUB. I like the acoustic aspect of the Rumbler, but don't much like the strings, so I've put silver strings on the SUB - what a difference! If I buy the Mahalo (and it's a big IF, but I haven't bought a bass for a while...), I'd be looking to put "proper" strings on it. I'll update the thread if I get one. -
I really like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mahalo-Travel-Bass-Solid-Electric-Ukulele-Ash-Finish-Gig-Bag-RRP-299-99-/292601105790?hash=item4420628d7e Cheaper than than a Kala (I already have two of these...), and it's neck-through. Has anyone tried the Mahalo?

Yeah, "Reclaim your flag!"

Hang on, do I know you? How's your band doing?

It's definitely rhythm guitar, played on bass, isn't it? I've been slowing down this tutorial on YouTube... Now I don't speak Portuguese, but I can understand it at 50% speed. lol
