My bad. I must have had beer ears last night.
I've just plugged my Yamaha into it, rather than my Nanyo, and it works...!
-
I only noticed late last night when I tried to play some Muse, that it used to work, but now it does not.
The amp seems otherwise ok, but the overdrive switch has little to no effect.
Would there be a specific cause for this? Is it something I can fix with my trusty soldering iron, or do I need to find an amp tech/send it off to Fender?

Metallic strings for the acoustic have been available for a number of years. (Finding them used to be trickier though).
for example:

https://www.thomann.de/gb/kala_metal_round_wound_4.htm
The second ones you've linked to there are the same as the ones I've put on the SUB. But I'm sure there was a note somewhere that said they were only suitable for the SUB and not for the acoustic? Or was I dreaming?
Edit:
This is probably what I've seen:

Hello Andy_L!
I've not much to add either really, other than I'm a forgetful idiot...
I bought a spare set of "Silver Rumblers" ages ago (I like to have spares). They are exactly the same as the ones that came on the Rumbler i.e. dark grey and rubbery.

Thankfully I've realised this before I've gone out and bought another set.
The stings I've put on the SUB are different - they're silver plated roundwounds, I believe made especially for the SUB, and not to be fitted to the acoustic Rumbler? These are the ones:

Can anyone confirm this - or are there now metallic strings available for the acoustic, as well?

Don't mate, had to play rockin all over the world last week when we helping out with the youth group doing school of rock, what a load of crap that is. Rhythm guitarist and me tried to make it fun but it is so boring
I like it.

Oh, I didn't know you could get Silver Rumbler strings! I'm off to Google...

Hello Linus! Fancy seeing you here...
I have a Rumbler, and a red SUB. I like the acoustic aspect of the Rumbler, but don't much like the strings, so I've put silver strings on the SUB - what a difference!
If I buy the Mahalo (and it's a big IF, but I haven't bought a bass for a while...), I'd be looking to put "proper" strings on it. I'll update the thread if I get one.
-
I really like this:
Cheaper than than a Kala (I already have two of these...), and it's neck-through.
Has anyone tried the Mahalo?

Yeah, "Reclaim your flag!"

Hello missis sumner - fancy seeing you here 😃
Hang on, do I know you?
How's your band doing?
-
It's definitely rhythm guitar, played on bass, isn't it?
I've been slowing down this tutorial on YouTube...
Now I don't speak Portuguese, but I can understand it at 50% speed. lol

Just opened this thread, and immediately went all Kenneth Williams!

Is this what you're looking for:

I have a few...

Thanks, guys. I'll keep at it.

Having played through it a couple more times, with a pick, yes - I can see I'm just going to have to practise. I've actually gone back to the Rocksmith version to slow it all down, just to try to get a better feeling for the rhythm and technique. This won't help me memorise the song, but I can do that once I can play it.

Does this work for the Reef song:

It's come straight from Rocksmith, so ignore the shift in tempo - that's where it's just been dragged to fit the mp3. The notes shouldn't be too far off though.
-
Ok, since I failed to give an introduction when I first joined - just a short one...
I've been playing bass just over 4 years, mostly (ok, all) on Rocksmith, but joined a band about six weeks ago. And I'm still in a band... and they want me to learn Ace of Spades.
Whilst the learning is hard for me (too used to being spoon fed), it's not the learning that's the problem with this one - I just can't play it. I can't get the strumming rhythm right. I appreciate Lemmy played it with a pick, and whilst I can use a pick, and do alternate picking quite well, and quickly, I'm struggling with the "down, down, up, whatever" strumming pattern. What's the best way to improve this?
I'm currently playing it with a dodgy 3 finger style on single notes that changes to a "pretend I'm holding a pick" strum when I have to play power chords. Strangely enough, I can kind of strum "down, down, up, whatever" when I'm not holding a pick...
Can anyone give me some pointers?
TIA
Confused, Wigan.

Hotel California. After four years, I can almost play it.

No worries, thank you.

How heavy is it?

You have a PM. Hope I'm not too late...

I just bought a lovely Vantage bass off Richard.
I sent him all my money by BACS, and he didn't run off with it!
What more can I say? He even posted the bass straight away.
Thanks, Richard!

Errrmm, Nanyo had no treble on. Who would have thought lack of treble would lead to such a drastic reduction in overdrive?
