  1. I use the cheap T Bone one from Thomann. Great value if you are getting other stuff and get the free postage, otherwise very expensive!
  2. Was chatting to the girl cutting my hair in the local barbers recently and we got onto music and my bass playing. She then told me about an older guy who comes in for a haircut regularly and who also plays bass. She said he still toured a lot and had played with lots of names - when I showed her a picture of who I guessed it was on my phone she confirmed it was indeed Herbie Flowers. I primed her to ask about the bass line to Walk On The Wild Side when he next came in!
  3. I use a Shure GLX16 which I bought s/h. Never had any issues with it and love the freedom it gives. Also like the pedal board design which meant I just ditched my tuner and slotted the receiver on the board in its place.
  4. Hope sorted for tomorrow. Will report back.
  5. I’m there as well but a bit more enthusiastic about a bit of Quo than you!
  6. I Want You Back by Jackson 5 as intro and link to I Give Thanks. We also use some Coldplay keys parts on Water You Turned Into Wine.
  7. Seem to recall they were one of the first to use radio systems, some assumed they were miming to a track as there were no leads to the backline. Saw them a couple of times in Brighton, absolutely superb. And he played an Ibanez Roadster as well as the P bass for a time, I had recently bought one and it validated my choice in my mind at least!
  8. Was there as well. Just brilliant arrangements, sound and musicianship.
  9. Just catching up on this thread rather late in the day. Glad you have sorted a solution that works for you. I own a Fender Flea and a Status - love them both but cannot think of two more different instruments so fascinated by this combination. I had to tweak my Flea bass neck a few weeks ago which I put down to the weather - it was during that really hot part of summer. But nothing as severe as yours. Would be very interested to hear what Fender say when they have looked at this properly.
  10. I finally got to use the second cab in anger for the first time today, it’s been a very quiet summer. Was a small pub gig so wasn’t sure if it was worth taking it but I’m glad I did. More depth, more punch, more clarity - really pleased I went for this option. Plus I was able to fit the whole rig, two basses, pedalboard and a few other bits in pieces in a Mazda RX8 with room for a passenger.
  11. Forgot? That’s a shocker. (Was a great gig btw)
  12. I saw Weather Report on the tour that became the 8.30 album. Not sure if any of it was recorded at the Brighton Dome but I was there.
  13. Nice! Mine was the upmarket (ha!) two pickup version with a three way selector switch. I remember it being ok but then again I had no idea what ok was back then!
  14. A Zenta EB copy bought in 1977 from Minns Music in Brighton. It was £35 and I saved up for it at a £1 a week from my paper round plus a bit of birthday money. Sold it to a teacher at my school a couple of years later when I got a Craftsman Jazz from Macaris.
  15. I understand. It’s just sitting there taking up space though. Fancy another one?!
  16. Agree. Reluctantly just put my 1999 ABM C110 combo and 1x15 cab up for sale.
  17. Here you go. Complete with my favourite bass. Best bit about the cab is the level control for the tweeter, I can turn it off! And will do my best to get that recording sorted.
  18. Now that is a shocking thing to say!
  19. Thanks for all who contributed to my thought process. I picked up a s/h NY121 last night in virtually new condition. First impressions are really good. Thanks to @Sparky Mark for spotting the cab for sale on Gumtree. The guy who was selling it had bought it to go with his 1x12 combo but found he never really needed it - ironic or what!
  20. Ok. Let me know if you change your mind
  21. Can someone from Sussex come along if I promise to behave?
  22. Hi. Are these still for sale? I may be interested in one. Graham
  23. And isn’t that in large part the original problem I’m trying to address? It’s an interesting subject.
  24. The rest of the signal chain I’m happy with, only taken me 40 years...!
  25. Well spotted. Looking forward to seeing your boys at The Amex again soon (if I’ve twigged your team correctly). Same result as last season will do nicely. Didnt realise BF do loan cabs, that sounds like a plan.
