  1. I would definitely get a 20T for recording. If I could justify a bass head just for recording!
  2. Doesn't matter if it's British or American. Will still be full of ads and interviews with the same old farts.
  3. I would have thought even 50w for valve heads would be pushing it to be heard in a band.
  4. Rock isn't dead. Old people are just getting older.
  5. Had mine close to ten years and still going strong. Sounds just as good as a Sansamp to me.
  6. Using DR Fat Beams mainly at present. D'Addario Flex Steels disappeared so made the switch. Tried NYXLs but they were not like my beloved Flex Steels! Hence now using DR.
  7. Did you find that the strings reduced the output of the bass?
  8. Could anyone recommend a Boss OC-2 copy for under £100? I had the real deal a few years back but stupidly sold the pedal. Is the OC-3 any good?
  9. Would be great to hear some sound clips! Is this similar to the EHX English Muffin?
  10. Have a few stories, mainly in my originals days. I remember a venue saying they would supply the backline for us 'so just bring your guitars'. Got to the venue and... nothing! Landlady asked us to make a 40 mile round trip to 'fetch our drum kit'. Announced we were going one way only and promptly left. One of my first bands, in front of roughly 150 people, guitarist started the set without checking in first. I was still plugging in and tuning up yet he had already started the song... asked after the gig why the bass wasn't in the first song. Same band, played a different venue and we were received well. Got shouts from the crowd for an encore. Singer announced I don't feel like it and walked off the stage. Ah, a good one - had a lesbian couple make out to one of our songs during the set. Best story is for various reasons, a venue at the last minute said our band could not play the gig anymore. When I say last minute we had arrived with the gear to load in. Not a clever move on their part - we were providing backline for a 5 band bill and 2 of the other bands were friendly with ours. Once they found out we weren't playing, they pulled out and the 3 of us arranged a gig, that night at a venue less than 100m away from the original venue. So no backline and only 2 bands remaining on the bill. The promoter was not a happy bunny!
  11. I did have the Pure Sky - How would you say the Orange Burst compares?
  12. Any ideas where to get a batch for cheap?
  13. Did contact cleaner not solve the scratchy tone pot?
  14. I have the option to get one of these PJ Specials for a decent price so thought it was worth asking if the pups and hardware were of a decent standard - thanks for the help everyone.
  15. Has anyone ever owned a Squier PJ Special? The one before the VM line was released.
  16. This band normally pops up every 6 months or so looking for new members. I don't think they're that successful... 'Sign a contract with the band' - puts me off immediately.
  17. That's a shame. He should be congratulated for the amount of time and effort that went into that website.
  18. Oh - high tension nickel rounds. Rotos and Boomers in the heavy gauge.
  19. Chromes are not as high tension as Roto flats. Chromes have a similar tension to XLs in the same gauge but less flex. A lot of people perceive flexibility as tension, the less flex, the more tension. That's why flats get a bad rep for high tension - they're not. It's just the way the string is constructed. Nearly all flats are hexcore. TIs and La Bella Low Tension Flats are roundcore and very low gauges, hence their low tension and high flexability.
  20. I think sometimes, people listen with their eyes, not their ears.
  21. The Streamliner is a great head. The Shuttle I have reminds me of a world class studio preamp with a hint of valvey goodness at the back. Super clean punchy tone, definitely not an Ampeg!
