  1. I don't go to gigs where more than 300 people can fit in the venue. Problem solved!
  2. Does anyone know of a hardcase you can put the Pedaltrain Nano or Nano+ inside?
  3. That is a .115 E! Filing the nut was the only way that was going in.
  4. I used to use Sunbeams all the time too but when I tried Pure Blues... wow! Definitely a string that's halfway between Sunbeams and Fat Beams.
  5. I use 45-105 gauge strings. Last time I set the bass up, I measured 2.1mm on the E and 1.6mm on the G (17th fret).
  6. I think only twice before have I just used a DI box for gigging - I did know beforehand that the FOH was really good and the wedges on stage were great for personal monitoring. Too much of a crap shoot to try it every gig. I'm sure guitarists still don't understand how DI boxes work...
  7. I changed my black pickguard to a pearloid version if that counts?!
  8. But then you have to remember what volume your bass was at.
  9. Just buy a pedal tuner like a normal person. Clip ons look sooo amaeturish... and you can't tune silently.
  10. Small one for my usual shop but can downsize to a basket if I'm just nipping in for a few minutes.
  11. Please remind me to bring my tuning fork for the next gig - about the same in terms of professionalism.
  12. But you do bring/use one. That's the difference.
  13. That makes sense. I'm pretty sure the EQ does work with the OD though.
  14. Now this I would disagree with. A tuner (not a child's toy aka clip-on tuner) is essential for gigging/playing. Being in tune is more important than having a good tone. Why would you play without a chromatic tuner? That's like removing a string from your bass.
  15. I guess I'm lucky seeing as Bass Direct is 25 minutes away... still stand by my comment.
  16. You should really buy some Elixirs/D'Addario EXPs/Cleartones. If you're sweating that much and killing strings, buy some coated one's and save yourself a fortune.
  17. Got me thinking with the amount of pedals coming out every month - is the idea of using a bass straight into an amp old fashioned or do you feel you can't get a workable tone without pedals? Do people love the simplicity of plugging straight in and just using the EQ to get a good sound?
  18. It's why I always demo stuff in person before thinking about buying it. Videos online should only be used as a rough guide.
  19. Turn off the colour switch on the M80 to remove the scooped mids. Or if the OD is engaged, turn the mids to around 3 O Clock to make up for the auto engage colour switch. I have an M80 for the clean section mainly and I have no problem with scooped mids.
  20. Just buy them off eBay from the States. You can buy things outside the UK.
  21. It takes a while to find the right OD for your purposes but it's worth it. My Bearfoot Blueberry is my permanently on pedal but it adds so much to my core tone. It also works as a great booster for other higher gain pedals. I thought I found it with the SFX Micro Black Dragon but it wasn't quite there. Fortunately, the Blueberry into the BD gives off one hell of a sound; and my Green Russian Big Muff for that matter.
  22. Original Fender 7250s? GHS Pressurewounds?
  23. Roto RBs have always been cheap.
  24. I remember one woman who came in to audition could not stop praising us in the first rehearsal for how talented we were. Second rehearsal same thing. Just before the third rehearsal she posted one of those cryptic status' on Facebook, something like "I won't be going down with this sinking ship". 15 mins before rehearsal she cancelled and we never saw her again. We were a local band playing for beer money, nothing more, but she acted like we were huge or at least going to be. Don't even get me started on the bloke who turned up with his own mic, an X-Factor karaoke mic! He said he needed two hours before every rehearsal to warm up his voice...
