Oh God, Poison! Hate that song (and the band). Best bit is guess the year every morning. Then it's a decent variety of music. If it's after 1995...
-
It's the only thing in my experience that has kept it... pedals just seem to take it away.
-
Will get one when I'm next over then!

I don't think I've ever come across an OD/Dist. that keeps the 'woody' tone of a P or a J. You know when you're plugged in with nothing engaged and you can 'hear' that wood sound? No OD for me has ever kept that once engaged - am I alone in thinking this?

To me it's always Journey, Foreigner, Kiss, with more modern stuff like Joe Bonamassa, Black Star Riders, Cadillac 3, Black Stone Cherry... And that's it. It's either Classic rock or a random newer rock song by a not so big band. I remember when they took over from Kerrang on 105.2fm and nothing has changed. Darren Redick is probably my favourite DJ but he's the worst culprit! Probably a case of you'll miss it when it's gone but until then...

Roundwounds have roughly the same tension as flatwounds...

Musicianship vs Personality & Stage Appeal
The59Sound replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
A lot of musicians forget that a gig is not just about music but also about visuals and the general feel. It's a show! If the people on stage don't look like they're enjoying it then most likely the people in the crowd won't be enjoying it. I also think each band member should wear one piece of clothing to show some effort has been made to look uniform/like a group. Too many bands forget this or say image isn't important compared to the music... erm it is. -
Welcome to being in an original band, plus you don't get paid!

Get a Squier Jazz (CV/VM) and upgrade the pups. Fender's are horribly overpriced for what they are. Sandberg is a decent shout too.
-
And an extra £2/3 for shipping.
-
I've given them a fair chance but I think tapes aren't for me... I think flats are more my cup of tea. Anyone interested in some (almost brand new) La Bella Nylon Tapes? Around 2 hours playing time and cut for a Fender style head. Gauges are .60 .70 .94 .115

Best Courier for a high value instrument

Yourself! -
I have the Green Russian reissue and it is so good. You are right about the tone control being more of a mid cut. Once you get your head around that then it just crushes.
-
I guess I'm lucky my Bearfoot BBBOD is so awesome already and has zero bass loss!
-
That Joyo American Sound looks really good. Is there any bass loss? I always feel there is a tiny bit of loss on some of the cheaper pedals out there. I'm always on the look out for a pedal to give me some of that valve crunch and the AS looks great value.
-
Just the overall timbre compared to flats I normally use.

I think only once has the slapped bass pass over happened to me in a shop. Once he was finished jerking the bass off: Me - Are you in a band then? Him - No, not a present. Me - Wonder why?
-
Well - after delays due to stock issues, I finally got the tapes yesterday and strung them up this evening. Certainly different to what I was expecting!

Is it me or does the fuzz side sound quite bad? -
Bridges: Schaller vs Gotoh vs Baddass. GO!
The59Sound replied to ChickenKiev's topic in Repairs and Technical
The Gotoh 201 is a superb bridge, regardless of its great price. Much more user friendly than the BadAss. -
You can, but like BRX said, don't expect peace and quiet where you can observe the finer nuances! Slap, pop, slap, pop etc.
-
Thank you for all proving my point about how old and out of touch you are. I'll let you get back to your Ovaltine. Who? Who? Bah. Bah.

Kendrick Lamar will be talked about 20 years from now for the last 3 albums he has dropped. In 20 years time, you still won't be remembered. Moan all you want, sir, but please move along. Thanking you in advance.

Status Hot Wires Black Nylon strings
The59Sound replied to andyonbass's topic in Accessories and Misc
The nylons they have left are the last of the Picato made Status strings. Whenever they get a new batch in, it will be Status nylons but made by a different manufacturer so the string will be a little different from previous versions. -
They've stopped producing black labels now so they only do blue labels for rounds.
