1. "I've got a rare vintage guitar in the post" "I've been hunting down this dream guitar for about 15 years" Seriously? Parcel Farce are called that for a reason. Prepare for the worst.
2. Why is your bass banged up? I bought it like that brand new. So you paid someone to make it look old? Yep. Why? Because people would think the bass is older than it is/played more gigs than it has. Okay... My bass has 'mojo' caused by me playing the damn thing through countless gigs. I bought it brand new with no roadworn rubbish on it. Funny how only Fender benders are included in this mojo club...
3.
I'll kee an eye out for that. Didn't Jesse Hughes say some fairly controversial things after the attack? Is that covered in the film?
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/paris-attacks-anniversary-bataclan-jesse-hughes-eagles-of-death-metal-a7414741.html
4. Awesome film - definitely worth a watch.
5. Are these the real deal? Price seems too good to be true!
6. I changed over to La Bella flats 12 months ago after years of playing rounds and love the change. I play in a classic rock/blues band and flats just nail the sound IMO. I will mention I struggled to cut through the first few gigs because I was still learning how to EQ properly with flats. I play a Jazz bass and rolling the bridge pup off a little helped bring the mids up for a bit more bite. After the first couple of gigs I put a BDI21 in my chain and that really improved things with a little bit of grit to my sound really tightening it up. So anyone who uses flats - next time you're at a soundcheck, bump up the mids and use a low gain OD/DI box to add a touch of grit. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results.
7. Great price for a great SS string. Sunbeams are Hi Beams just with a nickel coating.
8.
Just ordered the EHX. Initial reports from over the pond are very positive, at least one person had replaced their Wren & Cuff TFR with one!
Would be interested to hear your views - I have a BBBOD and am looking for a more a full on pedal to put directly after it.
9. Wine snobs and instrument collectors have a lot in common.
10. Yet the pub name isn't being bought up still.
11. That indicates a different type of string, Clementine.
12.
I don't want to name and shame a pub who is now being run by, hopefully, a better landlord. The pub has a bad reputation as it is without me adding to it.
I look forward to playing the same venue then and being out of pocket.
13. Name & shame otherwise a pointless thread.
14.
I would have thought loosening the truss rod (more neck relief) would have been the way to go?
Me too...
15. Once you click on page two, 30 will appear in the url box. Change that to 60, page three. Change that to 90, page four etc.
16. I actually played one of these on Saturday and really liked it! Lightweight, balances really well, intonation and tuning were bang on, neck was really comfy to hold and the preamp gave a lot of good tonal options. Reminded me a of a G&L - unremarkable but a solid workhorse which always gets the job done.
17. Don't they usually try and cut something off as well over there?
18. Who? What's that? What you on about. Like that drunk punter saying the same joke to every band in the same venue for the last 40 years. You're not funny! You're a sad old man!
19. I would have said try DR Lo Rider SS - they were similar to Rotos when I had them on my bass for a while. Dunlop SBs to me were like Sunbeams with less punch.
20. He also knows how to throw a strop when he had his run in with Tecamp...
21. I'm a fan of VVT. Neck pup on full, bridge pup rolled off to 3/4, tone halfway to 3/4 depending on your string brightness - boom!
22. "Aero dBuz the simple low cost product that every musician should have in their gig bag!" But it costs $50... think I'll stick with OBBM!
23. My Jazz bass doesn't move inside my Hiscox?
24. Ebay! I can't believe I'm the only one doing this. I've been ordering DR strings from the States for around 5 years now and it's a no brainer at the prices they are. Rip off Britain adding an extra £10-£15 on top.
