1. What next? The fax machine has a resurgence?! This argument that vinyl is better quality, yadda yadda is rubbish. Blind test no one would have a clue which is which format.
2. Mods you can close the thread now.
3.
Monsters of Rock at Donington. Motley opening, Van Halen, AC/DC headlining. We were guests of Warner Brothers, all access...it was amazing being waved through security, under the track and parking behind the stage. Watched Motley Crue from the mixer tower, went round to the hospitality area right after and had a wee next to Mick Mars and chatted about the Roy Thomas Baker remix of Too Fast For Love. Got bitten on the arm by Tommy Lee, saw the OGWT filming. We watched Van Halen from the side if the stage. Beyond this is was a bit of a blur really. I do remember it all got a bit Wayne's World for a while.
Nice!
4. I think it was a good show - nice to see the champers as well half way through the set! I do think they need to get more musos in. Their first album, cool gimmick. Second album, same gimmick, okay a bit samey now. They can't do it a third time else they will be falling down festival rosters instead of going to the top. Look how long it took Black Keys to figure it out! (Pun intended!)
5. TCV were great when I saw them live. Shame they only released the one record.
6. Were there any acts that anyone liked? I smell a lot of jealousy here. Could be wrong.
7. I think festivals are great value when you consider one headliners normal ticket price for a gig would be close to £100.
8. Dunlop Super Brights have less tension than the normal Dunlops, are a bit brighter and last a little longer in my experience. Normal Dunlops however are very close to Sunbeams IMO.
9. Again - I'm sure the people who were actually there loved it. Why are you watching it if you think it's crap? The mind boggles.
10.
Most overdrives designed for bass don't drop any low end. But to answer your question, your amp can boost bass that has been lowered in volume as a result of going through the pedal, but if your pedal totally chops off anything under 100Hz for example, then there will be nothing down there to boost back up!
Thank you for answering.
11. This thought popped in my head yesterday - say you want your sound to have a bit of grit and stick an overdrive in the signal path and leave it on all the time. Most overdrive's tend to cut a bit of low end; could this not just be resolved by boosting the bass/low knob on your amp since the pedal is always on and will make up for any low end loss?
12.
Used it last night to record a short clip with two different Precisions. Pleased to say you can hear the difference on the recording. Once I've finished tracking the other parts I'll post up a link.
Please do! I have one and have never really used it - not sure why.
13.
Are you importing from USA?
Yes and there are no custom charges.
14.
An approximate location would be good?
Where abouts in Ireland are you?
15.
I say this only to show how diverse people tastes (or lack of) are but I simply cannot stand to hear his playing. I appreciate my bank manager will take a different view. The plaque is, indeed, a nice touch and should be applauded. More of it, for sure.
Nice and classy. Wrong thread I'm afraid for you.
16. DR Fat Beams - really impressive steel strings. The low tension, the smooth feel, the huge sound. Nothing comes close IMO.
17.
Got any band links, youtube, website etc?
I can send you a ticket for free if you would like?
18. When playing live I just turn up the drive setting a little more and that normally helps quite a bit. I play a Jazz with flats but love those warm old school 60s valve tones and it is possible with the Sansamp DIs - much cheaper than a B15!
19. Has anyone tried either one through a Schroeder cabinet? I might be after a head with a little more grit...
20.
II used to do exactly the same as you, small room with a loud drummer, Marshall guitar stack and a trace Elliott bass amp all at full gig volume, but we were 12 years old at the time
What is your point? Maybe you should come to one of our gigs and actually see us live.
21. I thought Prophets played far too many Rage songs. Just get Zak back...
