1. a nice little watch list on EBay with 7 dream basses!!! I need 6 balls!!!! Anyway this is one, and stands currently at less than half shop price, but if a reliced fender is effectively a legal 'fake' how do you know a fake 'fake' from a genuine fake, if u know what i mean? 2. Music-outlet is always very expensive - they used to have a lot of stuff on UK eBay but not so much these days. The Gumtree one is only 15 minutes drive from me and, if I didn't have other fish to fry, I would have at least gone to try it. I am trying to stick to Brit basses (fell by the wayside with a Levinson blade recently but only £200 so I couldn't resist) so that is keeping me from going for this one. Your Encyclopedia is a Godsend, Jan, but does my GAS no good at all. BB
3. Hearing 'Alright now' by Free first made me aware of Bass as an indiviual instrument Then JPJ and Chis Squire got me actually playing. The rest, as they say. is history......... BB
4. If this is the one from your feeler thread then I want it but i know I cant afford it BB
5. I have trouble with the search function but i think A) I am not using it correctly and A) typing in the word Fender tends to return rather a lot of threads............ BB
6. Not a short scale player but probably should be being a bit on the titchy side - is it a 30" or a 32" BB
7. Yeah, i wondered what had happened to him - was actually looking at his website last night- he is an excellent photographer! Had a lovely pair of 70's Fenders if I remember rightly. Well hope your doing ok,mate (if ur reading this) looking forward to more girl/guitar pics from you! BB
8.
I f***ing love picking my nose. I'd say its almost my favourite pastime. If I stick my finger up there and there's an especially juicy specimen up there, I like to leave it up there and just fondle it occasionally. My missus pulled out a bogey the other day when I was driving and it had a hair through it which she proceeded to wave in front of my face. I was jealous as f***.
Something tells me you aren't kidding BB
9.
I saw him playing stick in the early '90s. Please don't ask me what band they were opening for.
Hmmmm................OK, I wont. Not a man i would have ever associated with ye olde stick. BB
10. Looks nice! And a great price to get someone into genuine vintage Fender territory. Thats the thing about 60s fenders, they aint making 'em anymore. BB
11.
Hmnnnn ............ Dave Grohl is ace, but I can't say I'm a fan of Josh Homme. I'd prefer to hear more of JPJ with drummer + Nick Beggs on stick personally.
NB a Stick man now? BB
12.
I know but they do tend to hold their value. I've owned and sold a number of classic series MIMs and it's amazing how much they go for. I still have my 50s RI (MIJ though) from the 80s
Fair dos! and if its minty ur saving at least 120 clams! I really like 'em - never owned a Fender in 34yrs of bass playing...now that gives me an idea! BB It is the 50s Prec not the the 51 Prec?
13. Morning Jan! That Crews Maniac with the extended fretboard just looks fantastic! trying to work out 300K yen in real money. BB PS - came to my senses and decided I'm keeping all my basses!
14.
I reckon you'd get £400 for it - they are great basses
Only £519 new at GeetarGeetar BB
15. I knew that baldy twat slapper wasn't to be trusted! BB Dammit! now the Site will have to hand me real name over and i'll get sued
16. The £30 will be just to look at it initially!!!!! Like a call out fee for your washing machine BB
17.
Did anyone here visit Southside music, on Cathcart Road? I really liked how open and friendly that place was and I think that would be a nice idea for a shop.......
Used to go there quite a lot, lots of nice gear but haven't been in a long while. The only other true independants now are Strungout, Merchant City Music, That one next to Victor Morriss ( which is part of them - Guns and Banjos!!!) and now Sound Control(west) has gone back to being CC music they may start getting more interesting stuff. BB
18. Yeah, Go for it! I think we have a couple of drum only shops in Glasgow so why not bass? Agree on the selection of s/h basses and certainly prefer hands on to online purchase (unless the returns policy is good) I cant see a business model financially supporting the stocking of the real high end stuff- if the 'big boys' dont do it, it may be difficult for a true independant - but this may simply be due to the availability of esoteric items Certainly spend 4 figures a year at least And yes i am a terrible for impulse buying Best of luck mate BB
19.
I very much like that hat. It compliments your facial hair configuration very nicely.
The beard is the closest I will get to getting a 'brazilian' anywhere near my chin at my age..... BB
20. This is the one from the Hat thread - This is me in Botswana in May this year enjoying a cigar and a fly game of pocket billiards apparantly BB
21. I have noticed a disturbing tendoncy ( gettit?) for some basses to have a bit of wood taped in betwen the pickups effectively filling the gap completely - it has a name but it completely escapes me at the moment (too much hash when i was younger but lets not go there again!) Is it called a ramp? what's the deal with that. then? BB
22. Glad to hear it. Always wanted to have a dog but I am way to irresponsible and lazy. I dont think I had even heard of this model til I saw this one. I am intrigued by short scale basses as I am relatively titchy but never really played any - always fancied an Alembic SC. but the weight would have killed me. Do u get plenty of bottom end with the short scale? BB
23. Went and hid in my little studio, closed my eyes, stuck my fingers in my ears and went LA,LA,LA,LA,LA,LA* while this finished!! £511 - someone got a bendy shaped blue bargain but it wasn't me! BB * and no that is not my usual method of composing!
24. Good point, mate, you asked for advice in all good faith on how to do something and all we did (almost all of us) was try and talk you out it. Never had much to do with them so i would be no help on that score - sounds very tricky with click tracks etc and there is no room for error or improvisation.......bloody hell there i go again..Sorry, Sorry.. Best of luck whatever you do BB
25. I surprise myself that I've never owned a Ric as the Going for the One Album got me into bassplaying and subsequently also listened to a lot of Rush. but as the man says silly money for these 4001CSs BB
