And leave quietly! remember way back in 90s playing the staff club for the Bar-L prison nr Glasgow and ready to kick off picked up a mikestand to move it and POW!!! My thumb was resting on the E of my Steiny( still have the scar) and it felt like I had been grabbed around the body and was being lifted up, didn't shake or anything just totally paralysed and nobody realised anything was wrong til smoke started coming off me. My girlfriend, a nurse, who didnt normally come to gigs was the only one to realise what was happening and screamed to turn the power off. When the power went off I just fell straight forward stiff as a board comedy style into the keyboards Anyway Ambulance called etc and, I heard later, as it mee-mawed its way to the local Royal Infirmary the entertainments convener asked our guitarist "What time do you reckon that boy'll be back, then?" Twitched for weeks after that!! BB -
Good point, there - i think it's safe to say that, for most of us, contact with a luthier will be more for ongoing maintenace etc rather than our full blown dream custom. I dont think my plan of collecting one from each builder is going to happen now (unless me balls come up ) I think we are hitting well over 60 makers at the mo' And if i restricted it to a BritBass I would miss out on lots of lovely stuff I GAS for usually BB Now I wonder if as a collective we have an example of every one........
So no one's mentioned Paul Everson, even though he's a member here and he's got three pages in this month's BGM? (Beware: the website's hideous.) I don't understand (looking at the "Nouveau Simple") how a bass made of solid wood can come in under 4 lb.
That is pretty amazing (if true) a boon to all the back sufferers - my Overwater perception comes in at 6.5lbs and its tiny At the other end of the scale(s) there is a Ricky 4030 hamburger on eBay and guy says its 14lbs!!! They Eversons do look cracking though. BB

I have a briefcase combo for use in my little studio/practicing and I really like it - the graphic gives a top notch response. however as volume goes it doesn't like my Warwick Dolphin - way too quiet, nor my Wal Pro - have to switch the coil tap on or it breaks up at F# and G but with My Status T-bass ( active jazz clone with hum cancelling pup) it is awesome really loud and clear! I am old school tho for live - I think bass needs to shift air and a lot of it! So 5 and 10 inchers (oo-er missus) only good for adding a bit of clarity and top end in my book, but hey what do I know? BB

I've never tried a short scale (i dont think?) And I suppose that could be resolved by a trip to GuitarGuitar to see how it feels cos I really fancy this Clickhere BB
Nope. They're waiting for more information, photos of the neck pockets, etc. I know this, because I'm one of those 'idiots'.
!!! Classic! BB

£700 up to £950 for the 2x10 - I think they look pretty cool. Make me want to buy a nice classic Fender to go with one too. BB

Falcon and Hawks guitars, certainly part of the same series as this, were made from 78 onwards but cant find a reference to Falcon/Hawk Basses. Edit - sorry there was a Hawk bass and this looks like one of them - found some which had the same pickup configuration but had an assymetrical double cutaway BB

I would have said given the period its a Washburn Scavenger bass - but although they had p type pick-up they didnt normally have 4 knobs BB
I'm almost 100% certain that used to be mine before it was stolen from me in 1987! For nothing more than sentimentalty's sake, I'm going to contact Paul at Wal to see if he can check in the book for me..
If it is the stolen one why not pursue it and claim it back? Even if it ws 20yrs ago? Wot does the law think? BB

This on my local Gumtree clickhere That seems a good price but what could the the crackling be do you think? If its a cheap fix why not get it done himself for a better sale but I suppose he mebbe just cant be arsed, like i would be, and wants shot of it as is. Anyone had a simlair problem? MY AH250 crackled a lot but it was the uv light caused that Any advice? BB

I wouln't mind a stab at the ol double bass after years of electric but the cost is rather prohibitive and then i saw this ad on my local gumtree - This but I dont know how to approach it as i know feck all about double basses - I would like a bargain but dont want to offend the guy also wouldnt know what was good or bad unless it was a total pile of crap I suppose. Contacted the guy but he just said come and see it no guide price or anything - I get the impression he knows feck all about them too. Any advice? BB
