1. I bought 4 sets of Status light ( 30 - 90 ) off eBay for a good price to try them. Finally stuck the first set on me Wal yesterday and they are bloody hopeless! Can barely see them never mind find them to play so off they came for Black Label Warwicks 45s! Now have 3 sets of single end Status lights gathering dust. BB
2. If that is a bound board I may have to go and try this BB
3. My second, after an Ibanez blazer BB
4. Is this B'nG I not just an SBR-60 with alder instead of walnut, hence the paint job? I got £300 for my SBR60 and was lucky to get that. Mike in London cant get £250 for his SBR80 so IMHO getting £500 is a bit hopeful. Was it freless originally? BB
5. I quite like slapping though I am no good at - I am left handed but play right handed so my syncopation is the wrong way round. BB What I dont like is openig up a thread on BC and being confronted with an image of sonemone burning themselves to death regardless of how iconic and well known the image is.
6.
I concur. The MEC 2 band in my Warwick Thumb BO when EQ'd flat is quieter than the passive Seymour Duncan Quarterpounders in my Precision. There's a fair amount of boost available by turning up the bass and treble knobs, but that might not be the best sound coming from the bass. If you're after a hotter signal then you'll be after a replacement pre-amp or some kind of gain pedal between the bass and amp.
I usually put it straight into the desk via a ESB microbass ll which I always adjusted depending on which bass - it was only recently i was doing a lot of playing with the PJ briefcase that I noticed how low the output from the bass was. As long as I am not alone and it aint bust BB
7. 9V. I assume it is the standard issue MEC 2 way electronics. BB
8.
I like 'em. You've avoided brick walls and railway tracks. Good work How not to do it
Brilliant!! Worried now in case any of my old bands are in there. BB
9. I have a NT Dolphin and while it is a great bass playability and soundwise - lots of scope given only 2 stacked controls - the output level is way below my other basses, even passive ones! I can crank up my PJ briefcase all the way in me little home studio to get a nice level but if i leave the levels and switch to the Status T bass that nearly blows me speakers out. Any Ideas? checked battery and if any adjustment in cavity (a la Wals) but nothing BB
10. Was ckecking cheap flights to Luton there, til i realised it was a 5 A beauty!!! BB
11. That is beautiful! and what a price! Mansons want £3400 for one of these! Best of luck BB
12.
Because it's not a complex task to take the lead out? I do with every guitar and bass I own, whether they are active or not.
Lead out at all times when said bass is not round neck - u trip over that cable and ur pride and joy is going down (and not in the good way!) BB
13. Bolleaux! BB
14. how close do you mean? I dont think too many would be mistaken for a Fender J ( logo not seen ) for a reasonably experienced eye. BB
15. Status T-bass? BB
16. That is a real tragedy, especially being so 'young'. There is nothing like the sound of an orchestral bass section that blows all electric out the water. BB
17.
..... along with all the other stuff I never need.
BB
18.
If I had the money though I'd probably go for a Mike Lull T Bass. Lush!
T standing for Tasty, obviously BB
19. Epileptic Prostitutes????!!!?? BB
20. I use a Herco Flex 50 among others even down to .16 flapper it can give a nice tone, not v loud mind you. The stiffer it is, the harder it is to hold onto oo-er missus! BB
21. Ooohh I do love a wonky shaped bass!! BB
22. Ha Ha! 10 Grand for an obscure and obselete computer game????? Must be a boutique one? http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/blog/article/5985/ BB
23. If they met with an 'accident' it may push the financial viability of said tribute group higher? 10k each and I'll do Simon LeBonBon for nothing!! I'm just that kind of guy! BB
24. There is nothing, repeat nothing objective about bass playing and owning. what works for one could be a complete antithesis for someone else I havent played professionally for years and stick to me little studio and am going to buy a celinder soon (hopefully) and its nobodys business but mine. will it be better than anything below. I don't know I hope so but I dont need it and it wont change my life one iota but its still going to happen. Objective, my Arse BB
25. That is one fantastis bass - I had a SBR60 til a few months ago and I loved it, only sold it cos I have too many basses Doesnt look in that bad a condition to me at all either and that price it's a steal if all the electrics are working fine. Best of luck BB
