Hmm. So I just noticed that the V2 no longer advertises "Class A" circuity. The CB version had it written both on the pedal and in the manual. V2 version has it neither on the pedal or in the manual. Any thoughts? Edit: and I actually got a very quick reply from Origin Effects (Jacob, thanks!), so sharing it here: "The design of the pedal changed a hair, the signal path of the compressor is still Class A. But there is an OP Amp in the bypass path, so it's not Class A in bypass. Though with where it is placed, you're unlikely to tell the difference between it being Class A and not."

Hi guys, did anyone compare the built-in Microtubes models with Microtubes captures? Which sounds better?

Stand for tilted cab + level head?
oo.viper.oo replied to oo.viper.oo's topic in Accessories and Misc
This is cool! I'll have the pink one. Pink for punk! -
Hi guys, I'm looking for a way to tilt my cab to serve as monitor and at the same time being able to put the head on top of the cab, presumably on some level stand of sorts, so that it doesn't fall from tilted cab and so that I can access it's controls easily (i.e. it's not laying on the ground next to cab). Do you use similar arrangement? Did you see it somewhere? Please post tips and links. Thx in advance!

Did your playing improve AFTER you left a band?
oo.viper.oo replied to DaytonaRik's topic in General Discussion
I think it's poor wording of the title. But then I'm not native speaker, so forgive me. What you're saying is that your playing has improved not because you left a band, but because you started doing something new. So it should say "Did your playing improve once you started doing something new?" and then I can guess the answer would be "sure, yes" for most guys. If the band naturally evolves, then you should have opportunity to try something new within existing band, so leaving band is not necessary to improve. When my band was dissolved, I had period when I didn't feel like playing, so obviously my playing did not improve. But then I joined new band and I was motivated, invigorated and I have indeed improved my playing. -

NEW D CLASS BASS AMP BUT WHAT?- QUILTER? MESA? etc??
oo.viper.oo replied to BassManGraham's topic in Amps and Cabs
@BassManGraham What amp did you use before? And could you make a quick comparison with Quilter, please? Edit: and additional question - is the line out level normalised or does it change with gain? -
I tried 5-string Marcus Miller's Sire Jazz bass in store the other day and it was decent. I believe they start below £400.

Compressor. I'm using Bayger Sustainer, but any good compressor would do. Why? Check your favourite compressor thread :-)

Stereo setup for bass practice AND listening to music
oo.viper.oo replied to lurkingbass's topic in Amps and Cabs
Similar to guys above, I'd also suggest a pair of active monitors, plus some simple interface like Line6 UX1 or POD. Both monitors and interface can be easily found used for good prices. Advantage is that the monitors can actually faithfully represent your bass at relatively low "living room" volumes. I've been using old Line6 POD X3 with some Yamaha monitors (not sure about the exact model) and I'm very happy with the setup, it lets me play along the PC with near-zero latency with monitors or headphones and bass connected to POD and music coming from PC via USB and offers decent set of effects to compress and colour the bass. Near-zero latency, because it is actually made for live playing. Regarding 24/96 and DSD - why are you concerned about those? I thought you mentioned earlier that Hi-Fi and anything over 17KHz was not the goal... The point here is that the dirt-cheap interfaces I mentioned can do 24/48 extremely well and it seems to be adequate solution to your use case. Sure, you can use more advanced interfaces that can do 24/96 or even DSD, but will it make a difference? -
A warning to those that use Class D amps
oo.viper.oo replied to Bass is the place's topic in Amps and Cabs
This is true, "Class D" is a "D" simply because "D" follows "C". -
My eBay feedback for the record.
Won't it be marked as Class B digital because of the power supply? The pedal will be all analog, Darkglass do not use any digital circuitry.
Afaik some pedals are digitally controlled analog. I'm not saying Darkglass is, but that's how you do things efficiently nowadays. The way I understand it is that there's digital circuit translating manual controls (knobs) to actual states of various stages of analog circuit, which is then processing the signal. Advantage is that underlaying analog circuit can be much more complex and single knob can be translated to multiple "virtual" knobs controlling multiple analog stages.

THIS is small pedal board : <- tuner, chorus, compressor, overdrive <- What more does one need anyway? Btw it's Pedaltrain Nano, it's powered by single Warwick AC/DC adapter and it neatly fits into MONO Guitar Tick add-on module for MONO hybrid case.

My Darkglass Vintage Microtubes certainly does not cut any bass away. It's bit on a pricey side, but it's worth every penny. It lets me tune that exact tone I want - clean when playing softly and with a bit of grit starting to appear when playing hard. I tried some cheaper pedals before, but those typically were very "binary", either the overdrive was there or not and it was not possible to tune them the way that the overdrive only appeared when playing hard.
Sold one of my MarkBass NY151 Randy Jackson cabs to Martin. Transaction to CZ was flawless. Thanks Martin!
My pleasure, the cab just arrived and it's awesome!

Just bought Markbass NY 151 RJ cab from Gilles. My 1st transaction on BC, so I'm very happy Gilles was willing to send the cab to me and accept somewhat dreaded PayPal payment. Great packaging & communication, I received detailed pictures of package before it was handed over to courier. Happy doing business with you, sir!

The main point is that whole band should play according to the drummer. Guitarist does not have to hear you well. When you gig, it's often about compromises and it's the audience who you play for, so they have to have a good sound. That you don't have a good sound on stage is often inevitable side-effect.

I think it's more of a philosophical matter. When I have a choice between Italian and Asian-made MB, I choose Italian, because I have a feeling the money stays in Europe, so to speak. I prefer supporting Italian workers, than Indonesian or Chinese workers. Quality-wise it shouldn't be much different nowadays, MB has tight QC.
