  1. This, very much. Though I'd call it a day when Berry does.
  2. If we're on cheese, I'll add the Faces' classic: Under dreaming spires To Itchycoo Park, that's where I've been I got high (What did you feel there?) well, I cried (We'll try the cheese there) tell you why
  3. The silks are black, which I think is correct for the Deep Talking Flats? They're free to a good home if anyone wants to try them
  4. I'll second this. Many thanks to @Reggaebass top bloke πŸ‘
  5. Thanks πŸ‘
  6. Good point, thanks
  7. That's really kind of you πŸ‘ I'll drop you a message
  8. I think it would take more than that to make me even a mediocre player!
  9. Indeed! I suspect the set of La Bellas I have is defective given what others have said on here.
  10. Good question. I've just checked and they're 45-105 too, so I wonder if I have a rogue set Maybe not fair to try selling them
  11. Thanks everyone, much appreciated
  12. Wow that was quick! Many thanks πŸ‘
  13. Bit of background: I've always had just one bass, but after it simply stopped working at a rehearsal on Sunday I'm going to get a backup. Most basses seem to come with roundwood strings, but I'll want to change these to flats as soon as possible. But which ones? I know the strings on my current bass are 45 - 105, but have no idea what make they are as they were already fitted when I got it. The silks are red but that's as much as I know. I'd happily get another set if I knew what they are. I did try a set of La Bella Deep Talking Flats, but they were very low tension and I didn't get on with them at all. They're still sitting around somewhere but I'd prefer not to use them. So, what would you recommend for a higher tension set of flats? It's for country rock on a precision. Thanks for persevering through my ramblings. Andy
  14. Yeah, there are some really helpful people on here
  15. I've just bought an Aguilar TH500 from Matt. He was a pleasure to deal with: excellent quick communication and a really speedy, safely packed delivery. Many thanks Matt πŸ‘
  16. Off the top of my head and in no particular order: 1. More than four knobs (ideally no more than three) 2. More than four strings 3. Single cut-away 4. Wooden pick-up covers 5. Pointy bits 6. Fanned frets 7. LEDs 8. Headless 9. Gold hardware Oh, and fretless, because I'm not good enough a player for one of those
  17. A while back someone put up for sale a Pelham blue Jack Casady, with a hard case and upgraded bridge. I think it even had flats, damnit. Perfect. I saw it and made a mental note to message the owner when I got home. In the intervening two hours of course it sold.
  18. I've never played a forces venue, but I have jousted. I can confirm that no good came of it.
  19. Would love to do this but our singer is not convinced that his wife would appreciate it
  20. Let's just say that our singer is the best singer in the band
  21. I certainly get where you're coming from, but it does rely on the audience to give it some thought. We have a former drummer who is now on the sex offenders' register, and the singer is a teacher, so he's very conscious of these things. Even then, the protagonist does seem to be tempted: Get out of here Before I have the time To change my mind 'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far He's not ruling it out 100% perhaps
  22. Have never managed to persuade our singer to do Gary Puckett & the Union Gap's "Young Girl". There are a couple of dozen reasons in the lyrics I suspect...
  23. I know of some guys who have played as Geoff Leppard (rather than Jeff) in "tribute" to the patron saint of Lotus owners, Geoff Capes. I've toyed with forming a fake boy band called Westlike
  24. πŸ˜† Now that's just silly
