it has a certain charm with the Pyramid black nylon strings, and the bridge makes the G string sound just a bit different than the others which gives it another layer of weirdness that i enjoy. what brand of biscuits did you have in mind?
-
it's a Eko neck on a Hagstrom body, that explains the extra space in the socket. The switches do a bunch of things i don't understand as i don't really care but i do enjoy 2 positions very much

got this general disaster in a trade for some pedals i wasn’t using and it turned out to be a beauty! the neck is too narrow, the electronics are a mess, the bridge is a joke, but i love how it feels, sounds and it’s super inspiring every time i pick it up… i love the other basses in the house as well, but never expected this to become such a thing, i guess you never can tell…

Sure, i believe they're starting at around 1500 EUR (VAT included), depending on model and options. Just email Karel (he's the man behind this operation, making everything except the tuners by himself), he's a very kind gent, he'll give you a quote.

Rabbie, what is this model of the bass you have? The sides look amazing! All solid?

Limited time Joe Dart Signature Bass, Go…
triplebass replied to AlexDelores's topic in General Discussion
weird enough nobody went for the Plank bass when it was for sale here. I think it’s a step above the JD sig: quality woods and hardware and NO control… i’m still super happy with it, and it cost me less than the JD sig… even weirder… the JD sig will sell for more with time and the Plank is probably impossible to sell although it’s worth double or more if you ask me.. -

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2024?
triplebass replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
David Gage Czech Ease travel double bass with hard-case which i got at a very fair price. I also enjoy very much the Squier Rascal and the HB Mustang basses. Very happy with the Mark bass Tube amp + GR carbon 10” speaker. The worst is yet to come perhaps? -
this exactly obviously the wrong place to ask this question, a very biased and presumptuous environment
-
yes, i got the one i posted - red and black
-
Yes, the 1/4 is definitely too small. I measured the bass and looked through the 1/2 options and this was the only one that seemed it could possibly maybe fit. And it just does. The bag is still a bit too long but because of that the bass fits where it otherwise wouldn't - it's bottom and bridge area are much deeper than on a 1/2 bass.
-
update, in case anyone needs some info… bassbags can’t make one as they don’t have the patent or the blueprint… Gage is not replying at all… did a bit of measuring and then I bought a Roth@Junius 1/2 size from Thomann and as much as it’s not a perfect fit i think it will do the job just fine and certainly much better than the original which is falling apart.
-
on the good side though.. i never heard about these speakers and because of this post i got to know about them
-
i’m having the same problem with my Gage travel bass bag so i’m looking for a new one. I guess they could make a new one?
-
Any news on this, does it fit?
-
i tried one a while ago, it was well built, looked and sounded good, the only thing i noticed was the weak E string. but that seems to be a weakness of the short scale? i’m still contemplating getting one though… and yes, i do like the design, works for me, but obviously not everybody’s cup…

If you like jazz don’t go to a jazz festival
triplebass replied to triplebass's topic in General Discussion
i stand corrected. having said that, i am looking forward very much to the general statistics that will prove me completely wrong. -

funny enough you see all sorts of rock, pop, world and i don’t know what else kid of music at a jazz festival but you never see a jazz artist at a rock, pop, world, folk or whatever else festival. ain’t that a nice little twist, everybody’s jazz if needs be, but it only works one way. how lovely and inclusive, so modern too… -
If you like jazz don’t go to a jazz festival

i know that, but there’s acts now that have NOTHING to do with jazz, there’s no relation whatsoever to what the idea of jazz is in my understanding but still they’re making it to the line-ups. -
It seems that everybody can get a gig at a jazz festival nowadays as long as they are a big name or they don’t play jazz. At least that seems to be the story for quite some time now in european jazz festivals. I was offered a ticket from a friend who was playing the Gent Jazz festival so i checked the program of the day and the main acts were some (what i heard on the embedded video) Adele type rip-offs. And basically the whole program seemed to have about 15% jazz or jazz related music. What’s going on? Is the word jazz so attractive that you can stick anything in the program and your sales are great? Opinions, experiences?
