This is only ok if they all played quietly too, which would not appear to be the case. I think I might have told them to stuff their request.

Convert one to fretless. -
The authority on set up for this style of offset Fender seems to be Mike Adams, aka, Puisheen. Check out his YouTube channel. https://youtube.com/@Puisheen

Sounds like some judicial use of compression is all that’s required, which shouldn’t mess with the frequencies and just smooth out the peaks.

Wrist strain so lets try a bass..picked up yesterday from BD!

A New Bass Day thread, which the OP is pleased with and it’s descended into negativity. Why can’t we just be pleased for the OP and perhaps start a different thread where the issues raised here can be discussed? @BCH congrats on your purchase, may your GAS remain in abeyance for a goodly while; it messes with my head . -
Infinitely so IMO.

Other than those who are soloists, our job is to serve the song, if using a pick does that, job done. I swap between pick and fingers in the band as required, I’ve even started doing some old school thumb style for a couple of songs. It’s also fun to mix it up.

It appears to be a mid to late ‘90s Les Paul bass.

I suspect that they are well aware how easy the upgrade is and know that they are quite likely to achieve 2 sales for those buying into the MetEx line.

Pre Covid, I always took 2 basses, one fretted, one fretless, if either crapped out I could still finish the gig with the other. Now I’m in a band where I don’t need the bumpless beast, I’m still inclined to take a spare, it takes up little room in the car and the worst that will happen* is that I don’t use it. *I realise that the worst that could happen is that both basses fail and the amp emits a wail that opens up a portal, which releases demons into the venue, who then eat me** ** Hmm, maybe I should seek help

If you can go the extra few £s for a JMJ, there is at least one for sale on BC and is well worth it. -

For bass players - who preffer to sing back vocals ?
ezbass replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Good BVs and harmonies are what sets a lot of bands apart. Once I was given the confidence and guidance about singing, I enjoyed it more and more. However, some songs were beyond me due to the syncopation of the bass line against the vocals, in these instances I stuck to my principal job. -
The Squier Affinity Jag is 32” scale and has a 38mm nut width.

Another hissy fit - Sleaford Mods this time

Or shows how stupid you really are. I depped for a gig where the organisers wanted some low key jazz. I worked very hard to learn the set, was bricking it for most of the gig in case I let my friends down and then someone came up and asked us to play some rock and roll so they could dance. -
I suspect this is your problem. If you’ve not had this issue in other venues, this pub’s acoustics seems the most likely cause.

You can always add a preamp pedal should the need arise, all of my basses have a Sadowsky preamp, in that they go through an SBP2.

Rub it in why dontcha! 😂

Bands should realise that they are the hired help and that the person paying for the ticket is the customer. Doing a few wedding gigs would help solidify that scenario for them. -
My JMJ does soften the P bass regret a tad, as it’s very similar (if not the same) tonally and feel wise.
