  1. Weather permitting, mine will get its first outing in a band setting tomorrow, I hope it rises to the occasion.
  2. Friends of mine are big fans and played in a WA tribute band, I went along for the meet up with chums (a curry was often part of the evening). Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of WA, back when they were a cohesive unit, before Powell and Turner went their separate ways, the leftovers were never as good as the Mk1 & Mk2 versions.
  3. An update on my eschewing the Hootenanny for Radio Scotland and Get It On. New tradition started here, definitely doing that again. Yes, there were a couple of Jimmy Shand and Andy Stewart moments (😖) but it was mostly ace. The tunes coupled with the hosts was a great way to while the time away until 'the bongs' (30 seconds late, but that's streaming for you). Full disclosure, I also listen to Get It On during the week, so this was a bit of a no brainer really. The Hootenanny is such a tired formula that rarely springs any surprises, I'm surprised I stuck with it for so long but, then again, NYE TV is pretty bloody dire all round. Radio, the way of the future.
  4. After a pathetic effort last year (3 in, none out) I’m up for another go.
  5. I’ve broken with the tradition of shouting at Jools on the TV this year and am listening to Radio Scotland instead, Get It On with Brian Burnett is so much better.
  6. Harley Benton’s recent release of its Mustang-alike sounds the very ticket for you. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mv_4msb_gotoh_db.htm YT review from Low End Lobster
  7. I’ve seen Wishbone Ash more than any other band and I’ve never been anything other than underwhelmed. Rory Gallagher at the Hammersmith Odeon in the ‘70s was poor as the sound was appealing to point of nausea inducing. UFO, also at the Hammersmith, with Tonka Chapman were underwhelming and I may have left early. Similarly, Def Leppard, again Hammersmith, left me somewhat disappointed, despite boing in love with Hysteria at the time (same tour). It might seem that the most common factor here is the venue, but I’ve seen some crackers at the Odeon/Apollo and it still remains my favourite venue.
  8. Best steer clear of the for sale section for the next 6 hours or so .
  9. Love Like Blood is one of my favourite tunes of all time. That is all.
  10. One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer - Various
  11. Given my recent purchase of an EUB, this seems very timely. PM coming your way.
  12. I like a trans teal finish, but it’s nicer now and those Hipshots have sorted out that nasty string break angle.
  13. An absolutely cracking refin, well done 👏👏👏.
  14. Ooh, nice! Ripe for upgrading with Burns BiSonic pickup (or whatever else floats your magnetic transducer boat, including leaving as is). GLWTS.
  15. Maruszczyk Elwoods and Jakes are 40mm, possibly others in their lineup too.
  16. Ooh, I like that, more details would be great.
