  2. Hmm, sturdy, lightweight and compact folding are probably counter indicative terms (although they may exist, but probably at a significant cost). I have spindly, fold up thing somewhere, but definitely only for home use. When using one live (yes, I know, but sometimes needs must, especially for short notice deps), I used a bolt on one with a mic stand.
  3. 🤣 I wonder what Reverend think of the body shape? At the money, it’s a good score and at least it’s little things that can be easily fixed.
  4. +2 (SBMM Shorty ‘Ray & NS Design WAV 4 upright). None out, but next year could well see 3 go.
  5. When I first started playing bass, it seemed as if my music collection grew massively overnight as I became far more aware of the bass on the recordings. Have a listen to yours and hear what the bass is doing, especially rhythmically, it’s not a bad way to learn your new role. Add to that the techniques available as mentioned in the online resources mentioned by @lownote and you should be well away.
  6. Pacificas are fabulous guitars at every price point, this one looks very nice. GLWTS.
  7. Not to mention a pain in the wallet come string change time.
  8. Season’s greetings everyone.

  9. I’ve just had to learn that for a new band. Jacob’s Ladder - Rush
  10. And how piste off some folk were/are/will be*. *Covering all my bets there.
  11. That’s what I’d surmise. Link to the BD LaBella page https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/LaBella_Flatwound_strings.html
  12. Ooh, tough one. Of the 3 purchases I made this year, they’re all very different and all do what they were purchased for very well. Bass wise, I guess my shorty ‘Ray, as this has convinced me that short scale is the way forward for me (says the man who just acquired a 42” scale bass ).
  13. The 760FL LaBella’s are long scale. EDIT: Copied from the Bass Direct website: Short Scale - 32" Winding Medium Scale - 34" Winding Long Scale - 37" Winding Extra Long Scale - 38" Winding Hofner Beatle Bass Sets: 34" Winding 760F-MUS for Mustang Bass (through-body): 33.25" Winding Bass VI Sets: 35.5" Winding Jaguar VI Sets: 32" Winding Danelectro Sets: 32" Wound String Length
  14. The definition of insanity is expecting any thread on BC to stay on topic throughout.
  15. Plenty of mature (at least in years ) types here, you’re amongst friends.
  16. I was wondering about this mod myself today. Yeah, that works, that really works. Now I want one!
  17. It’s growing on me, but I know exactly where you guys are coming from. The American Performer could benefit from a rounder bridge pickup, to make it easier on the eye too IMO, maybe a ‘51 P style one?
  18. Just had a meet up with the guitarist of a new band for me. He came to Ez Towers and he took one look at my Mustang and said, “Yes!” We’re going to get on fine. 😁
  19. Starting to gel with the beast at last. It would’ve happened sooner I think, but I’ve also just landed a position with a new band and have been woodshedding their set list.
  20. I shouldn’t be looking at the for sale section because Santa came early to chez Ez.
