  1. I actually did a fair bit of this today and most enjoyable it was too. Welcome to GM status, we’ll heat up the crumpets and wax the paddle for the initiation ceremony .
  2. That's not good for a non B stock instrument and dead batteries is another no-no. Anderton's are really good guys, raise it with them and I'm sure they'll sort it soon as.
  3. Black Coffee In Bed - Squeeze
  4. As it should be.
  5. Sorry to hear the above, Andy. Never rains but it pours.
  6. I play live, which is a performing art, according to the definition. Therefore, I must be an artist. I am currently sitting in a comfy chair, with my 2nd glass of wine for the evening, which potentially makes me another kind of artist . Cheers 🍷!
  7. Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now - The Smiths
  8. If you have the ability to blend your pickups, rather than just toggle switch, just favour the bridge a bit more, that will get you most of the way there. However, some sort of humped EQ curve from 250-750Hz should get the job done too.
  9. Perhaps it’s time to step away from the technical side and concentrate on performance. By this I mean try to stop analysing what you’re doing when playing in your band and feel the groove of the song more and what the other band members are doing. I had an example of this in my own playing, recently. I was playing along to a song I know well with one of my fretless basses and I played it well enough, but it lacked something, I was going through a series of mechanical motions that, whilst they did the job, didn’t seem right. I then played the same song on my EUB. My upright skills, by comparison to my EB skills, are really not great. I don’t have the dexterity or the stamina that I have on EB and have to pare back my performance. Anyway, I played the song the best I could with my upright abilities. What happened was that, although I was delivering a less technical performance, I was really enjoying it, I was actually physically dancing with the EUB and just enjoying the groove. Out of the 2 performances, I know which one I preferred and which one an audience (and band members) would appreciate more.
  10. Perhaps these Godin-alikes come from a different factory. However, at at least £1k less than an actual Godin, it's a small price to pay.
  11. From the many reports on BC, Sire fret ends are normally as smooth as silk. Plainly, this is not always the case .
  12. Tea in the Sahara - The Police
  13. I do this for my WAV4.
  14. I have my suspicions too. Headstocks are often (nearly always) the giveaway. I call Skwire
  15. Hello, it appears that WoT is in the know as to the identity of the builder.
  16. Chris is a top bloke and a very tasty player. I’ve seen him with Thunder, but mostly I saw him with local legends (when I lived down south), Bad Influence, when I making the jump from the 6 string thing, to the righteous instrument. I count him as an influence because of this timing. He also has a great singing voice too. Very much the complete package - so when I say top bloke, I mean utter, utter bastard . Seriously, those attending are in for a treat.
  17. Lip Up Fatty - Bad Manners
  18. Brinsley is ageing well. I had a long conversation with him, years ago, when he was also the amp tech at Chandler’s. A thoroughly nice gent and a mine of information on the workings of amplifiers. Also saw him with GP at the Marquee and Mean Fiddler, back in the late ‘80s; great player.
  19. Just appeared in the FS section…
  20. Valeton’s Tech21 Flyrig ripoff covers the bases (no pun intended): https://www.thomann.co.uk/valeton_dapper_bass_effect_strip.htm?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=1581403900&gbraid=0AAAAADuDMCWE-6JzW8zHoZd5QvudOBxdP&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6bfHBhDNARIsAIGsqLisLZEhPjbAD0q4veQXyBqU8otRoWXUvs-KscV4ck-xk0GfIMmmdlkaAkWLEALw_wcB Or the real deal but not on the cheap of course: https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/210226367217025--tech-21-bass-fly-rig-v2-multi-effects?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17147278064&gbraid=0AAAAAD76p-0F4n-A_Ckl-voJvrNemZYYW&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6bfHBhDNARIsAIGsqLifpUd8rU6NafbgzXxb2oNHoenstMCx1btGLB31FSdSMblAcQXsROEaAjfUEALw_wcB
  21. Rock & Roll Jelly - Stanley Clarke
  22. Baddum - tish! 🥁 👏👏👏
  23. Something very similar currently on the FS section
  24. Been there, done that, tone, volumes, D Tuners. Rite of passage that never seems to end. My best one was a guitar gig, where my lead had snaked itself through a pedal’s controls. I walked around a bit and suddenly had no sound, took me a while to fine that said cable had rolled the input gain to zero.
  25. Sweet, a nice solution you have there and it plainly works for you and your band. There’s certainly precedent for this, IIRC Robben Ford’s own, signature Fender was wired directly from the pickup selector to the jack output, he controlled volume and tone from his pedalboard. Not for everyone, but it’s an elegant solution, removing unwanted capacitance, etc from the signal path.
