  1. I bought my one very early on in their all too brief history. I eventually had it converted to fretless by The Gallery (cracking job they did too) before moving it on in favour of 5 strings. Of course, I’m Mr 4 Strings again now .
  2. Another Sessioncake user here, I can recommend them.
  3. Taking one for the shorty team there, good work. Looking forward to your review already.
  4. IIRC, the original SUB ‘Rays were wired in series, mine was certainly rather aggressive sounding. The paint on the neck wore down and became sticky, but I stripped it off and oiled it and it was much better. The slab body was surprisingly comfortable and although I found the bass bass to be quite weighty, it balanced beautifully on a strap and seemed lighter because of that.
  5. Once Upon A Time In The Westie - Dire Straits
  6. Ooh, more colours (Thomann don't have them all listed under short scale). https://www.thomann.de/gb/search_dir.html?sw=Harley Benton MV-4MSB Gotoh &smcs=57032f_905
  7. Ah, they're not all listed under short scale it seems. Sorted in a search https://www.thomann.de/gb/search_dir.html?sw=Harley Benton MV-4MSB Gotoh &smcs=57032f_905
  8. Only Burgundy Mist on the website at the moment. It's a shame about the matching headstock, because I think it could do with a wee reduction in size. Still...
  9. I prefer the ergonomics and size of the P bass. I'm not a fan of the J bass bridge pickup soloed, but as a blend it does help where the bass sits in the mix, at least live anyway. So P/J for me.* *I'm off to remove the fence from my posterior. 🤣
  10. I like your ‘proof of concept’ posts as much as the actual builds themselves. They’re always most informative. For the bridge pickup surround, I wonder if a more rectangular outer shape wouldn’t match the neck pickup better. Not my bass of course, @ped knows will know what he wants.
  11. Bought a gigbag from Mark. Super responsive comms, fast despatch, accurate description. What’s not to like? Highly recommended.
  12. We love to hear about others’ gear and we especially love photos.
  13. Another shout out for Danny Thompson. I'll throw Adam Ben Ezra into the mix. And you can't not mention Niels Henning Örsted Pedersen.
  14. We did a gig in France, just one night, but 3 days in total, including travel. The gig was OK, but we had an absolute blast, I don’t think I’ve spent a more pleasant bank holiday weekend. Our rehearsals were mini versions of that trip.
