  1. Sounds like a short in the circuit somewhere. Check the pot and jack tags aren’t touching the control plate or shielding perhaps?
  2. I Don’t Want To Go To Chelsea - Elvis C
  3. That went on hold very quickly, although I’m not terribly surprised. I heard a new clip of one of these on IG the other day, just wow!
  4. It looks very much like MM modified a cowboy belt to me. However, Pinterest may be your best bet. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/286682332504674176/
  5. I had a fotoflame Strat (yeah, I know, pitchforks and flaming torches to follow), it was an absolute boat anchor for a skinny stringed thing, definitely Les Paul territory. I dread to think what the equivalent bass version would’ve weighed.
  6. He is an @rse, great bass player, although I’ve never rated him as a singer. However, AP isn’t exactly a barrel of laughs either, not known for his laissez faire attitude to money. My favourite of them was always Ted Turner, quite the hippy, with an interesting approach to guitar and had the best voice in that line up too. I also have a lot of time for Laurie Wisefield, another great player with a reasonably pleasant voice. I’ve seen the various, latter day incarnations of WA more times than any other band and I’ve always left underwhelmed.
  7. Friends of mine were in a WA tribute together and one of them is quite friendly with Andy Powell, so they followed the trial quite closely. Martin Turner was on a hiding to nothing, he even represented himself saying something along the lines that he didn’t believe in lawyers, in the the court no less. He lined up Upton, Turner and Wisefield as witnesses, but AP still won the day easily and I think MT declared himself bankrupt. All very messy.
  8. I'm going to go with no, as I don't know what HCBF stands for. The EZ doesn't stand for easy, it a surname abbreviation couple with, er, bass. I wish I had never chosen that as a username, but hey ho.
  9. Not the SBMM ones, I don’t know about EBMM.
  10. Tickets at the Glasgow Hydro are spiteful if you want anything approaching a view, especially when I’d probably have to include an overnight stay. I even had a look at Munich and make a trip out of it, €100 starting price. I’m a massive PG fan and Tony one of my biggest bass heroes and influences, but bugger those prices for a game of soldiers. Maybe I’m just tight when it comes to gigs?
  11. S.Y.S.L.J.F.M. (The Letter Song) - Joe Tex
  12. Starting off by supplying photos without being asked, well done! Nice bass too.
  13. I look forward to ‘taking the pledge’ for 2023 and failing magnificently again.
  14. I contribute when I can, but a lot of non BCers seem to join to advertise a piece of kit and are never heard from again. Those that come for different reasons seem to hang around and contribute, but not nearly as much traffic as here.
  15. That scratchplate shows use, plain and simple. Regarding the nut, before fettling my own (it was high for my preference), the strings sat much lower than shown above, with none of that burring and with squarer shoulders. That one looks suspiciously like the strings have been used as a makeshift file. Bass Direct have a white, used one for £550 if you’re interested (hopefully the above isn’t that one). My only proper niggles were that the foam under the pickup wasn’t robust enough to stop it moving around under normal thumb pressure (I like to anchor my thumb there when playing the E) and that there was bit of slop in the tuners, they held well enough, but felt cheap. Extra, more sturdy foam under the pickup and a set of used Hipshot tuners fixed both of those issues. I also lowered the nut slots and rounded the shoulders off, redressed the fret ends after ‘rolling’ the fretboard edges and polished the frets (some were rather dull), but this was for my preferred setup, YMMV.
  16. After falling from Grace earlier on in the year, I doubled down just recently with an, ahem, acoustic guitar (looks out of window for angry mob with sharp, farm implements and burning torches).
  17. That is very nice looking, gert lush, as they say in certain parts; it looks even better than shops' website photos.
  18. The singer in my old band was guilty of this. She knew the words, but wanted a little reminder, cue a video of her glued to the tablet. It's like a TV in a bar or pub, you can't not look at it.
  19. Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette) - Tex Williams
  20. Very overlooked when folk talk of great guitar players. He has a very unique style of playing.
