Casino by Al Di Meola. Taking me back to ‘70s, when I discovered ADiM thanks to the local lending library (remember those anyone?). Listening to it now, I still love what he does, but who is that on the bass, they sound familiar? None other than Anthony Jackson. Steve Gadd on drums too, no wonder it still sounds great.

I run my always on MXR M87 comp into my VTDI and I like what it does. However, when using the VTDI (which seems to be more often than not at the moment) I’m definitely adding grind (more SVT than B15) and a fair bit of top end. There is definitely some added compression but it’s different from what the M87 is doing.

What’s New Pussycat - Tom Jones

Another vote for the EBS multichorus. When I first went looking for a chorus pedal, I lined a bunch up, side by side and the EBS was the best sounding for my purposes. Another advantage of it is that it also has pitch modulation and flanger settings, plus an internal wet/dry trim pot. I haven’t felt the need to replace it since I bought it, which must be at least 15 years ago.

Not with the full rig for me, as I think the 2 upwards speakers are too high up and are blowing past me. I think these work better when the Flightcase is on the floor. However, they do help the overall FOH sound if the ceiling isn’t too high.

My 10 do the job for me, although 2 are upwards firing.

I considered that, but it just makes life complicated and defeats my original intention. I may manufacture some sort of ramp to cover the void before going down the custom pickguard route (it’s where my hand sits when I play anyway, so a rest would be useful).

I thought so. I was surprised to find that that was an Ibanez bass, listening to Missing Persons I immediately thought it was a Wal (still could be of course) but this sounds much the same to my cloth ears.

I’m pretty sure that this is the MM hard up against the bottom edge of the P pickup (which I’ll remove). Turns out that I have an MM style pickup spare (Bassculture), if I can work/find out the wiring on this, that’s a few bob saved.
