  1. That was my only criticism of the hardware. Fortunately, a set of Hipshots came up for sale here and they were duly bought and fitted. The weight saving on the scales is pretty minimal, but the feeling on the strap is totally different and, of course, the replacements are super smooth and accurate.
  2. All the ‘Rays I’ve owned over the years.
  3. The shirt that inspired my Stingray print, I’ve had this around 15 years!
  4. I actually found a bass solo that I can relate to. Sadly, I only have an Instagram link as I can’t find it on YT. https://www.instagram.com/p/ChEk3M6tikm/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  5. I think I may have trashed it, but if I haven’t I’ll let you have it.
  6. I just chopped down a set of EB Cobalt flats for my Mustang, no issues, sounds great IMO.
  7. Hmm, I wondering if they’re shorting to ground somewhere, on some shielding perhaps?
  8. Fear my small weapon! (Oooh, er, Mrs) Oh, yeah... Twerp!
  9. I was going to say Stingray. I’m back into ‘Ray fold again (albeit a short scale) and it really does fit anything, not always perfectly, but close enough. Nigh on 30 years ownership is impressive around these hallowed halls, well done, Sir. Ahem… Yes, it is.
  10. My old band used to do this and the solo is totally at odds with song’s general vibe. A bit of pentatonic noodling over an ostensibly disco track.
  11. We will no doubt pick your brains with regard to the products you have listed. Good to hear you’re enjoying the BC experience, it’s a great place.
  12. If it speaks to you and makes you have ‘that feeling’ it doesn’t matter if it’s a Squier Affinity or a Fodera. Tokai are highly regarded and aren’t just a copy (would you call a Sadowsky a J bass copy?) they’re great instruments in their own right, it’s not it’s a dirt cheap bass either. That one’s a great colour too. Ignore any gear snobs and go for it, you might never feel the same about another bass.
  13. Welcome to the low end, dive right in, the water’s warm. As has been said above, because you’re learning from scratch, having a missing digit is something you’ll work around naturally and you won’t be aware of any compromise. As to whether right or left handed, try a bass and go with what feels natural, just be aware that left handed players are not catered to nearly enough as they should with regard to range and availability but it’s not insurmountable, as many of our southpaw members will testify.
  14. She really is the whole package. Great video, with amusing subtitles.
  15. Double build action for me if post it on GC too. I check in everyday, but traffic is low and slow.
