I've mentioned this before in the forum, but this seems an appropriate place to repeat it. When Bruce had his salmon pink P bass stolen, he asked Barry Moorhouse of The Bass Centre to source him another vintage P, which he did. However, BT never gelled with it and sold it back to Barry. I bought that bass (a white, '63 P that was road worn within an inch of its life; sounded great though) and had it for a number of years.

I remember a Roscoe Beck V for sale in The Gallery that used to belong to JG. It had had the frets ripped out and looked a bit bodged. Might have been the one above, I can't remember the colour. -

I’d listen to that, make it so!

You’ll probably like Big Generator too.

With a Way Huge, Swollen Pickle. -
Ouch! Mind you, first one in 18 years is good going.

Bruce wrote a book called The Big Wheel which was apparently a thinly veiled story about his time in The Attractions and wasn’t complimentary about the the EC character. Whether this was pre or post rift, I don’t know.

Please post photos of the fit when you've done.

Which one?

I love ginger oatterns, I’m hoping that they’ll bring out a chocolate covered one in the future.

I can do that in standard tuning, never minded altered!

Not until now, no. Every day is a school day. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Mitchell

Just to be contrary, Tony Levin tunes his cello in 4ths because it’s what he knows, so why not the reverse? However, he’s ancient and she’s young, so learning it in the traditional tuning probably would be easier for her and best in the long run. Ooh, a fence! Let me sit on it.

NBD - Shocking stuff from PMT, pre dinged and missing backplate

Gosh! You young ‘uns (old man shouts at clouds meme here). That is Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits. -
Yet we gleefully open our wallets and say, “Help yourself,” we’re mad I tell you, MAD! We need to rise up up against our bass manufacturer oppressors and tell them that their ‘non standard machining’ excuse won’t wash. Revolution now!

Now I come to think of it, me neither. -

I’ve bought 2 custom basses, sight unseen - you don’t have much choice when ordering those. -
If you like Roundabout, I’d have thought I’ve Seen All Good People might appeal and perhaps Siberian Khatru. Then there’s the Trevor Rabin era Yes, very different. At the end of the day, it’s different strokes for different folks, which is a good thing, I had to take a few swings at Yes to find the bits I liked. I think because of Chris Squire, bass players want to like Yes, much like Geddy and Rush, but sometimes the genre, or particular band aren’t for you. There’s certainly nothing you’re missing in terms of musical education (for want of a better term), it’s just not your cup of tea (other beverages are available).

I always used to buy in person but, now I’ve moved out to the boondocks, it’s an upwards of three hours journey to the nearest outlet. On top of the time, there’s fuel and parking to be considered. When these items are free delivery, those of us without a retailer/seller ‘down the road’ would be daft not to order right off the website, especially when distance selling rules apply. Good to hear that PMT have sent out the cover, leaving that off was shoddy, as was neglecting to give an accurate description of the bass. However, some of the rougher finished areas, particularly around the controls, looks very much down to Ibanez and their distributor. I had an SR1605 that had some awful finishing and they were (allegedly) horrified that the bass has been released into general circulation and replaced it with no fuss. The bumps and dings on the OPs bass do potentially look like previous owner/shop damage though. -
More money for less bass? Harrumph!

I like Yes, a lot, but some of it really leaves me cold and or irritated (shades of, “Shut up! We know you can play,”). Take any bits you like and stick with them. I really like the pre Steve Howe era Yes, Banks & Kaye definitely had something going on that I found and still find pleasing. Yesterdays is a intro to that era, with only 1 Howe, Wakeman era track, a cover of America, which is sublime. YMMV.

Funnily enough, I’ve tried playing my Rob Allen in the upright position and I find it very comfortable. Sadly, this does nothing but increase my GAS for a double bass (along with a ‘Ray).

Having now had the 'Ray SS for a good while, I'm really starting to get the 'Ray bug again. It doesn't help when this appears on the GG website as incoming 😍... Fortunately, I've seen the weight for these published and they're way too heavy for my ailing shoulders. But just look at it!
