  1. I like Maruszczyk basses (I have 2 Elwoods and have owned a Jake), but the lower horn and scratchplate aways look overly bulbous to me, if they sharpened those contours up, just a touch, it'd be a winner.
  2. I'd be all over a 32" P Bass, I reckon it would feel just right for me.
  3. Replicate this position with a strap, if possible. I certainly try to get my sitting and on the strap position as close as possible to each other. Conversely, play sitting down all the time perhaps?
  4. Definitely a case of, "Shut up! We know you can play," and I would've preferred to hear the lyrics. Top level playing, nonetheless.
  5. I'll race you there.
  6. For bass solo, see above, for bass led instrumental probably... Or possibly...
  7. You/we are bass player/s. Bassist is discrimination against bass players .
  8. Breadfan - Budgie
  9. Mustang Sally - Everybody

    Hello

  11. The Ballad of Ned Kelly - Fotheringay
  12. Graceland - P.Simon
  13. Er... be polygamous, use both.
  14. Cut My Hair - CSNY
  15. Pretty much all you really need. I saw them on the Hysteria tour, it was just ok (Brian May came on at the end and they played Tie Your Mother Down), 40 or so years on, I imagine they would be slicker than oil on silk.
  16. Please expand on this.
  17. I’ve often thought a reel of some description would not only make sure they don’t twist, it should also be a faster way of putting them away.
  18. I’ve worn specs since I was about 5 or 6, they are, for better or worse, part of who I am in terms of looks. The only time I don’t need them, in fact they get in the way, is when I’m doing really close work and then it’s a joy to dispense with them. I wear contact lenses for outdoor activities sometimes. In answer to the OP, yes I do. Do I need them to play? Not really, but if I need to read something or look beyond the stage whilst playing, they’re a necessity.
  19. I had a go over on YouTube, where I said something like - My cloth ears with headphones thought that 1, 2 & 5 were all pretty similar, number 4 sounded quite hot and gnarly by comparison (G&L?) and if I had to say which one was the P bass (assuming there is only one), I'd go with number 3. On crappy, phone, tablet speakers, they all sounded the same to me.
  20. Doctor Jimmy - The Who
  21. The Invisible Man - Queen
  22. Good work there, kudos. An example for us all.
  23. I use standard strings on my 30" basses, the tension isn't an issue at all. As to fitting into the tuner holes/slots, I've only experienced a little problem with the E string, when using flats, fitting into the smaller tuners on my Harley Benton (Gotoh 9mm capstans) and I just unwrap a small section to get it seated, roundwounds would be more straightforward. The 1/2", 14mm tuners on Mustang and shorty 'Ray have no issues in this dept at all.
  24. Someone needs to commission a bass version of this. It would be a normally fretted, artisan version of the Dingwall D’Bird. Ah, but this could be the instrument to inspire and enable you to become the player you dream of being (enabler, moi? ).
