  1. Needle and the Spoon - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  2. As a regular Radio Scotland listener between 6 and 8, I stuck around for Vic’s show. I enjoyed it, even though for the most part it featured bands that I’m not particularly well acquainted with (although I am aware of them) and look forward to him doing a follow up, which he seemed keen on doing (maybe Pino might get a mention in connection with D’Angelo in that episode, as that genre seems to fit the show’s general remit). Tina Weymouth getting played on 3 tracks was an absolute bonus. Only one part of it all irritated me, it was when Hooky described Joy Division and New Order as world changing; man alive, he needs to get over himself. All in all, definitely worth a listen, if only for Vic’s overall enthusiasm.
  3. Nice to see that the Sterling support team are on the ball (no pun intended).
  4. I tried some D’Addario rounds on mine, they were OK, but not as nice as the EB Cobalts that I have on it at the moment.
  5. There Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens - Louis Jordan
  6. If you don’t have a preference, the above is the best advice. Your luthier may have a brand they like to work with and all you need to decide is if you want lightweight or not. Looks aside, any premium tuner should have a quality feeling, precise action. FWIW, 4 of my 5 basses have Hipshots, the other has Wilkinson, Hipshot clones. They’re not all by design, but I have had dealings with Hipshot directly too and have found them to be consistently customer focussed with fantastic service and advice.
  7. Someone here will certainly be able to advise you, but I have always found DiMarzio to have fantastic after sales service, maybe drop them a line.
  8. It allows you concentrate on what your playing rather fiddling with the controls.* *If you have the ‘right’ capacitor fitted, you can have more than just than an on or off tone control. Breeds some fiddling, however.
  9. More build threads to follow, goodo!
  10. Real Gonorrhea Kid - Deacon Blue (again )
  11. Been there, no sound, check cables, check pedal board, check amp… maybe I should always start with the volume control.
  12. The minor faults on mine seem very insignificant compared to that catalogue of errors masquerading as a musical instrument. Definitely a wrong ‘un. I feel bad for you, especially as I’ve been singing the praises of mine. This is the kind of thing that Sterling Ball needs to be made aware of, even though he has a history of defending his products, that one is indefensible.
  13. If you don't mind the colour, Anderton's have one in dropped copper. https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitars/short-scale-bass-guitars/sterling-musicman-short-scale-ray-4-bass-in-dropped-copper
  14. Send it back, get another one, it’s not right IMO.
  15. What? Mr Myung is talking out of his rear end and my basses already do this? But he’s a renowned (for a value of renowned) bass player with a endorsement deal and everything. Ah, I think I see the light, or at least the 💰.
  16. I remember reading somewhere where Sterling Ball said this should be the starting point for MM basses, sounded weird then, still does. My action is a hair over 2mm at the 12 fret, there is minimal relief (no rattles though) and I have this amount of adjustment left (I did lower the nut slots, however).
  17. They selected the wrong bats, anyone who knows nothing could see that, not that I did.
