I’ve not used them myself, but the Loxx system looks like it might not stick out as much as Schaller or Dunlop https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Loxx_Locks.html Conversely, you might try a non locking solution such as the D’Addario/Planet Waves elliptical strap pin https://www.amazon.co.uk/Planet-Waves-Elliptical-End-Pins/dp/B005FKF3L6 I have these on a guitar and they’re rather effective and low profile.

The Casino is an easy one to pick up as it’s reasonably loud acoustically, due to its hollow body, so is more responsive without having to plug it in. However, swap out those pickups pronto, as they’re not good at all. I fitted a pair of Artec P90s and, despite the low cost of the Artecs, the difference is like night and day. Because of the difference in the height of the treble pickup on the Casino, you may need to source a shim to raise it to the correct height for even output between the two, unless you reuse the original covers. Sorry for the guitar talk, as you were.

Earlier today (much because Planet Rock is so sombre at the moment), I dug out the live recording that came with the 40th anniversary edition of Moving Pictures. Damn that's a fine live album!

Bands whose supposed 'worst' album is IYO actually their best

My favourite bit on that album is Devin Townsend shouting, “Shut up! We know you can play,” priceless. 😂 -
I suppose that’s the mark of the session player, easily overlooked. But yeah, he’s a monster, much like Nathan East, who I forgot too. Here’s a player we’ve overlooked so far - Bob Glaub.

The Pass is the one for me. The first chords are hairs on the back of the neck time. -

Aah, I might be getting confused with Vapour Trails. -

Clockwork Angels has some great tunes on it but I find Nick Raskulinecz’s mix awful, a complete mush with little separation. IIRC there was a remix of Snakes & Arrows that was warmly received, as the original release suffered from the same mushy mix, I hope they do the same for CA. -

Rush’s Presto and Roll The Bones are both seen as dreadful by a lot of the Rush fanbase. However, whilst not maybe their best, I find them both very pleasing and better than some of their other albums. -

Wakeman’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth is marvellous (or at least I used to think so, it’s been a while since I listened to it) and Six Wives is quite good too (previous, bracketed statement applies again). King Arthur wasn’t nearly as good, IMO and doing it on ice was whimsical in the extreme, although this may have been done to distract the audience from the less than stellar music and performance (some of the singing was woefully pitchy IIRC).

I have to admit that I was going to post the same as @hooky_lowdown. Top score, absolute bargain.

I was ironing, whilst I was watching the Taylor Hawkins tribute last night (in my house, not Wembley, that’d be weird).

It’s a section of lyrics from Yours Is No Disgrace, IIRC.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Thanks for that clarification. Therefore, without VAT, a blue or white shorty ‘Ray in the UK would be £560 (or thereabouts). Why the black one commands the extra £50 remains a mystery. Is black paint and a tort p/g that much more expensive? -
It looked very much like he was counting and I’m sure there was a hiccup in there somewhere.

The knobs on the ‘Ray SS are a weird one. They’ve clearly just been put on any old how and not tightened correctly. I think this is partly down to using grub screw knobs are smaller, split shafted pots. It takes a little time to get on straight, tight and without the grub screw tightening on the split and Sterling are clearly just chucking the knobs on and knocking the basses out as quickly as possible. As to pricing, they do seem over priced here and have gone up recently, especially compared to the ‘Ray24, with it being a smaller bass with passive electronics compared to its bigger siblings. However, with regard to prices overseas, are the prices quoted in the US inclusive of their local taxes?
