  1. The line that sticks with me is, “Then a stale pork pie, hit him in the eye and Ernie bit the dust; poor Ernie.”
  2. I Hake Everything About You - Ugly Kid Joe
  3. Indeed. I saw Jasper live in the ‘70s, he was hilarious and, IIRC, he confirmed this was was the reason for the release. Now that the 7” is pretty much dead and buried, does anyone bother with novelty releases? The novelty stuff that got into the top 10 is not something the UK should be proud of: Grandad; Grandma We Love You; Shaddupayourface; Ernie; My Dingaling; etc.
  4. A great example of a fretless player who you’d be hard put to notice that a fretless is being used (yes you can tell on certain songs, but that’s by design) is Boz Burrell, especially on the first Bad Co album.
  5. I saw a gig last year of a well known band and was checking out the venue the day before (small to medium). The sound guys were there setting up and we got chatting. I mentioned the bass sound and I was assured that above would not be the case. Was it clear and defined? Was it buggery!
  6. Darkness on the Edge of Town - The Boss Ah, you’re rhyming Ez with Suzi. Ahem, that’s not what Ez stands for.
  7. Herb Alpert was part of the soundtrack to my upbringing. It was heartening to hear him come back this years later. Thanks for posting.
  8. AER seem to be the go to for this. However, Phil Jones stuff has a following too. The Flightcase is a good little amp, if you can find one.
  9. Just looks so good and, because it’s Atelier, you know it’s going to sound good too. I’ve now seen a blue one online which is wallet worryingly pretty. 😬
  10. I Will Follow You into the Dark - Death Cab for Cutie
  11. That is a wondrous thing and I now want the PJ version!
  12. I found myself at loggerheads with the band leaders of 2 bands. The smart thing was to leave. I’m still friends with one and have played with him on a one off basis since, the other still continues to be a tool according to other musicians of my acquaintance who have had the misfortune to work with him. I was very lucky in my last band, in that we really enjoyed each other’s company off stage too.
  13. I think I can speak for a good number of here and request more details as to this mystery bass, pictures even.
  14. Sharp corners to the pick guard for me. I had a Maruszczyk Jake and the rounded part of the PG by the jack socket just grated.
  15. I feel a sub thread coming on - I Hate Playing in a Band.* *Been there - I quit.
