  1. Not Donna Summer I’m guessing
  2. When I was in a Bowie tribute band, it was Trevor Bolder’s lines that I really enjoyed playing (Ziggy is great fun). Although, come to think of it, all the songs were pretty good fun bass-wise (including Visconti’s lines on MWSTW - nice), except Heroes. I never really think of Tony V as a bass player, it’s his production work that I normally think of when his name is mentioned.
  3. I’ve never heard of a Keith Lowe, but I have now.
  4. This is the DB track that just makes me shiver all over, straight out of the blocks, no waiting: the wonderful Danny Thompson...
  5. I assumed that that was Neil Young's guitar (or maybe his rear end).
  6. This ^ One of my favourite bass tones of all time is in that video list, The Real Me. Love it! However, in isolation, it’s horrible and I was aghast the first time I heard it like that. Of course, when the mix buries the bass tone, what’s the actual point of being there at all? I feel sorry for Jason Newstead, seems a nice guy and a decent player, forced to work with that goblin behind the drums. I bet Trujillo doesn’t put up with his shít. Interesting the Scott D refuses to concede that Jaco’s tone is challenging for some - he’s such a massive fanboy.
  7. A quick search seems to reveal that her go to bass is actually that Longhorn through an SVT and it’s not just being using on the TV for the visuals.
  8. As a starting point, I’d just set the eq on the amp flat and plug your preamp into the normal, instrument input. Then you can play around with the tones on the pedal. You can plug into the FX loop’s return input, bypassing the amp’s tone circuit, but I’d try straight into the ‘front end’ first.
  9. This came on the radio yesterday, I had no idea who it was, but the bass tone made me think Mountain. Not Mountain, but most certainly an EB3…
  10. Maybe tag some of resident builders whose work you admire in this respect.
  11. Well done. Glad this found a new home suitably quickly.* *Phew! That was a close one

    Introduction

All are welcome. I’m impressed with your filling the bass gear void, no messing about with dipping your toe in the water with some lower priced, budget gear, no, Sir - you’ve gone full bore. 👍
  13. WOW! That shows so much pride in his product. Massive kudos to Mr Shuker.
  14. Works for me, always preferred Snickers anyway. >
  15. They are brilliant and I don’t mean that sarcastically. I’ve had to do some loom splicing recently and using lead solder has made this operation much easier.
  16. I second that, Paul, Wyatt and yourself have been a lifeline in these very odd times. An extra special mention for The Shortest Show on the Radio, often surreal, often grumpy men chatting, always entertaining.
  17. Definitely post photos here, a good number of folks on BC do not use FB and I’m certainly trying to wean myself off of it.
  18. I do hope that was typed on purpose 😂 I used to have the radio go quiet and pc access (non app) just stop when I was down south. I think flakey is an appropriate description.
  19. They have their own, that’s the one the omits the ads, but perhaps that one does too.
  20. Best listened to using the app, less adverts that way. Not that we have a choice up here, the PR radio signal is rubbish and unobtainable in the house, despite having a big åss aerial ☹️.
  21. And currently reading the traffic report! Is there no end to your multi tasking abilities? Ooh, Supertramp - nice. 😎
  22. He’s quite keen to point that out too, can’t say I blame him, no one wants a rosy Richard. In addition to his Spectors, DR also has a Ric and a fur covered Steinberger/Hohner cricket bat.
