    I’d love another Ric 4003s, but it would have to be a walnut one, I can’t cope with the weight of the all maple ones. Interesting enough (or not, depending on your POV), the position of the 4003 bridge pickup and the ‘Ray are almost the same (when scale length is rendered equal).

    Yes it would. The other advantage being, for smaller gigs, you need only take one cab.

    My usual go to for Stingrays is teal, which I love as a colour on most things. However, given… I’d probably go with some sort of burgundy mist to contrast with the hardware.

    Firstly, sorry for your loss. These things don’t always hit hardest straight away, my dad passed away in a February and it wasn’t until the September that I really let go of the pent up grief. Talking to your bands mates about is a good step, but make sure you really do take a break of some description, even if it’s just letting someone else do what you do for a while. As always, you know you can come and vent on BC, any sort of catharsis is good.

    As others have said, lots of practise. I was encouraged to sing some lead in my last band and one of the tunes was Bowie’s China Girl. The, “I wander into town…” section is right against the bass line rhythm. There was a lot of trying it at home before playing it live I can tell you.

    I have the mk1 too, but I stuck a blend pot in straight away. I then disconnected the bridge pickup altogether.

    It’s BC, ‘twas ever thus. I was just about to suggest this, whilst reading further up, but you’ve plainly already done it. I find the bridge pickup to be really weak on these, I reckon a GZR set would sort that out nicely, although it would require the fitting of a side jack socket.

    I just put a normal set on mine(45-105), zero hassles because of the wide capstans not putting an unsustainable strain on the windings.

    Although the photo isn't quite square, the saddle peaks look normally staggered to me. Nice score, BTW, I'm suitably jealous.
