Paul Young was just on BBC2 on the Live Aid gig, Pino laying it down on the ‘Ray, nicely high in the mix - a perfectly timed advert.

They are exceptional basses, if you don’t mind the relic finish (I don’t mind at all). Great playability and stunning tone from the SD custom pickup.

I have a cream (yellow) version of these, really nice bass, better than any of the MiM ones I tried, both in tone and playability.

Despite EBMM having a whole slew of signature guitars, they’ve never been as quick/as generous with signature basses. Other than the OLP Tony Levin, there’s not an EBMM Levin ‘Ray, despite him playing them for decades, without a break.

Watched it, last night, thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought Lee and Russ Kunkel came across really well; grounded, likeable chaps.

Pino is the reason I’ve always had a fretless and one of the main reasons I play bass at all. Having played a fretless from almost the get go, I (think I) managed to get a handle on it early enough to get over the, “Yikes, that sounds horrible!” Opinions differ of course .

It’s just occurred to me that there has been the Fender PP sig, now we have the MM PP sig, when are Moon going to bring out a PP sig?

Pino also used his FL ‘Ray with PSP, not really that recent, but still in the last 15 years. FWIW, I played Pino’s ‘Ray, many, many years ago. I don’t remember much about the feel, tone, etc, just feeling really nervous 😬. Dammit, I now have ‘Ray GAS again, even though I know they’re not really my thing!

Me too, but I won’t be buying one, even if it was priced the same as a non sig ‘Ray. I’ve had 4 ‘Rays, but I’ve never kept them. My other all time fave is Tony Levin, so I have extra inducement to go MM. However, I’m not Pino or Tony (sadly) different things work for me, which is handy, as it’s saving me a fortune .
