The minor faults on mine seem very insignificant compared to that catalogue of errors masquerading as a musical instrument. Definitely a wrong ‘un. I feel bad for you, especially as I’ve been singing the praises of mine. This is the kind of thing that Sterling Ball needs to be made aware of, even though he has a history of defending his products, that one is indefensible.

I remember reading somewhere where Sterling Ball said this should be the starting point for MM basses, sounded weird then, still does. My action is a hair over 2mm at the 12 fret, there is minimal relief (no rattles though) and I have this amount of adjustment left (I did lower the nut slots, however).

They selected the wrong bats, anyone who knows nothing could see that, not that I did.

Are the nut slots too high, mine were. Maybe a truss rod tweak too?

Spot on. They should cut it short, have each nation stand there in a costume of their choosing and vote on that; just as irrelevant. Given the amount derision it receives, in this country at least, even from the presenters, I’m surprised it’s survived on our TV screens as long as it has. Maybe it’s cheap to buy and fills up the schedule once a year. Perhaps it’s a Marmite thing and I’m missing the point? No one died and it’s harmless I guess, providing no one takes it even slightly seriously. Hmm, I seem to have argued myself into a bit of a Volta-face. How red is my face?
