  1. Pretty much my take too, although I no longer own a P. Fitted mine with D’Addario roundwounds yesterday, not a million miles away from the Cobalts tonally on first listen in terms of midrange, perhaps a tighter low end and, obviously more top end sizzle, which I expect will dissipate after a while. Haven’t played roundwounds for years, so I’m expecting some finger soreness on my right hand.
  2. Nice one. What’s your take, now that you’ve plugged it in and gone back to back?
  3. The Classic Vibe has a narrower, J type nut width, IIRC. This might be a consideration for your son’s build.
  4. Good man! You got what you were originally looking for and for a good price. Now, something you need to know about BC, there’s a rule, which is so strict that it has its own emoji… We expect these and a full report on your new bass’s arrival.
  5. One thing you'll find about the BC community is that we are a helpful bunch, especially when it comes to buying gear, because we can then live vicariously through others' purchases. The weird thing is, once you have one, they seem to pop up everywhere, probably down to them being very 'on trend' at the moment. One of the local charity shops had a cheapy, short scale, J type thing last week.
  6. This just appeared on my YT feed. Just to add another option, rather than muddy the waters. Anderton’s have them at £499. However, the proportions might negate it.
  7. Almost bang on budget is the Fender Vintera Mustang, if you like the P nut width. If you prefer a more J type width, the Player Mustang has a 1.5” nut width, plus it has the extra J pickup at a fair few quid less. I’m a recent convert to short scales and my JMJ Mustang has quickly become the bass I pick up first.
  8. Wow, that totally changes the look. Might look at one of those for mine too. Being of a somewhat lazy disposition today, any chance of a product link @Low End Bee?
  9. The Band Played On - Back Street Crawler
  10. A Little Bit Off - Five Finger Death Punch
  11. Diamonds & Rust - Joan Baez/Judas Priest
  12. Three Lions on a Shirt - Skinner & Blubdiblub (a controversial, yet topical link).
  13. Down The Dustpipe - Quo (although originally demoed, pretty much as we know it, by The Man Band; it's all their fault)
  14. MIGHT? MIGHT! There's no might about it. GET IT DONE!* *Sorry for shouting. Please report back, I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll be interested in the outcome of the head to head.
