  1. Unfortunately for us, there were a couple of larger events happening in town that reduced the size of our potential audience. However, those that were there (30ish) were appreciative, although there was the predictable too loud comment from some folk in the firing line of the drums. Speaking of whom, we had a dep drummer again, so all those little pushes and dynamics that make our set sound good and polished we’re missing . A small stage meant that I was right on top of my rig and no matter if I played pick or fingers, distortion on or off, tone rolled full or all off, or any other effect, it all sounded like mush . TBH, I’m getting a little tired of this aspect of playing live. Still, looks like we might have picked up another local venue to play in, as one of the audience is going to recommend us for his club.
  2. Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard
  3. An Udder Park Another Sunday - The Doobie Brothers
  4. Given that grunt was another word for fart when I was at school, this seems accurate.
  5. But these will be piezo Resistance is futile.
  6. The album that that is from is just so good! Cuts Like A Knife - Bryan Adams
  7. The SB2 is back on the board, just adds that little bit of fairy dust to the Mustang and P.
  8. Dropped my Sadowsky SB2 back onto the board today, I'd forgotten just how good it is, subtle but brilliant.
  9. Definitely, that cheesy keyboard sound is like fingernails on a blackboard to me.
  10. I’m a huge Peter Gabriel fan, So being my favourite album of all time. However, the last offering, I/O, seems to be just rehashed versions of old tunes, with mixes that leave me lukewarm at best. I’m very disappointed.
  11. Dean Friedman at Blair Atholl Castle. Nearly 70 years old, but still able to hit the high notes that he originally sang back in ‘78. Intimate gig, with a small audience, but Dean gave his all and was quite the raconteur. He stayed around to sign merch or have a selfie, I ended buying Well Well Said The Rocking Chair again 46 years on.
  12. I’ve managed to talk myself out of the Cali76! Do I have split personality disorder, or have I been abducted by aliens and had the GAS secreting gland removed?
  13. Surfing With The Alien - Joe Satriani
  14. Another month and I’m still here! My 2nd tier Gretsch GAS was abated by reasoning that I really barely play my 6 stringers anyway and it would be just frivolous (still not out of the question mind). However, I’m inching closer to pulling the trigger on a Cali76, so might not make it until September, but this is surely the longest I’ve gone without new gear for absolutely ages.
  15. Insulating tape over the shielding, it’s what I had to do with my P, because the cavity was so tight, there was very little tolerance for any components that had twisted.
  16. He really doesn’t look it. Still out there, doing the do at 72, with gusto; the man is a force of nature. His book, if you haven’t read it, Riding Shotgun, is a pretty good read.
