Something that I found annoying was Graham Norton (who I don’t mind as a presenter of other shows) reading out people’s messages when they were recapping the performances with the voting numbers. I don’t give an aerial copulation about Millie & Jake watching in Cleethorpes wanting to say, “Hi, go, Sam!” (other names and locations are available). All that said, I quite liked last year’s winners’ sub-RHCP offering quite pleasing (why do they bother having amps switched on for an obviously mimed performance?) and nice to see a Dano Longhorn getting some airtime. Although, why cover up the logos on the amps, but not the guitar & bass?

I used to play a GWB35 in a band that covered a lot of genres. That bass was more than up up to the task, so I vote for your Ibanez. It has the extra string and is probably lighter than the Jazz Bass too, so easier to wear for an entire gig.

I could chime in here, as I have in the past, and talk about mechanical to electrical transduction, blah blah blah, but I really can’t bothered again. No one really moves from their entrenched positions. The only thing I will say is that manufacturers and retailers are in the business of making money, so we should certainly regard what they have to say with a modicum of scepticism and trust to our experience. FWIW the video in the OP would certainly persuade me to buy a Seymour Duncan pickup for a cheaper instrument that I was comfortable with (I have in fact done this, just not with an SD).
