  1. Ooh, nice! I have 3 basses this weight (and less) and they are a delight to play compared to my not significantly heavier basses. Weirdly enough, my JMJ shorty is the heaviest of all my basses and my Rob Allen 35” the lightest - go figure. Great to hear of the physical improvement, long may it continue.
  2. Absolutely. Also, I find that either monochrome or a limited colour pallet helps immeasurably. The other secret .
  3. Loving that bass tone at the start, @Stub Mandrel, it even manages to hold its own when the guitar gets a bit more lairy.
  4. It is an attractive piece of kit.* *If you like carbuncles.
  5. White Man in Hammersmith Palais - The Clash
  6. It Means Nothing - Stereophonics
  7. Can't Keep It In - Cat Stevens
  8. Still Got The Poohs - Gary Moore
  9. I've yet to have a bass that I don't have to adjust a bit/lot. I've had actions that are too high, and too low for me, they might suit someone, but we're all individuals and have our own foibles. That's not to say that were unplayable, far from it, in fact I've only ever handled one almost unplayable bass ever, a Rickenbacker, at a show, where there was so much neck relief, you could slide your fingers underneath. I think reviewers should use the phrase, playable out of the box, which is a fair assessment.
  10. Losing My Religion - REM
  11. Whereas mine was absolutely fine, construction wise. I wasn’t keen on the way it went gray/white in places where the strings rubbed, however. Felt great to play as @Beedster mentioned. I stripped mine as I didn’t like the stealth black, which revealed some very average basswood, with a great big knot in it (none of which affected the sound), still looked pretty cool though.
  12. One of These Kites - Eagles (another double whammy)
  13. Feats Don't Quail Me Now - Little Feat
  14. Breaking All The Grouse Rules - Budgie (double whammy).
  15. That would look great.
  16. Something that popped up in my YT feed today. SBMM JDs being set up in California, at least that what Joe says.
  17. Low action and low neck relief can help with mwah.
  18. FWIW I used a different bass for rehearsal last night, in place of my usual Mustang, it sounded glorious and felt easier to play, despite being 3” longer in scale, it’s certainly quite a bit lighter. I also took the ‘Stang and swapped briefly for comparison, but went straight back to the Maruszczyk. It sounded somewhere between a P and a Ric, which pushes all my buttons currently. Long story short, no GAS for a new bass in the near future for me (he said, tempting the GAS genie to cast a spell).
  19. I feel the gloves are off regarding encouragement and luring others into gear acquisition is now standard operating procedure.
  20. I don’t know what you mean
  21. At last I understand why Duck Dunn was so awesome, check that right hand .
  22. The strings are never straight either, the easiest thing to do, you would have thought.
  23. I have to agree, it's just nasty. Yup, all kinds of wrong.
  24. FFS! They're 'aving a larf!
