The attention to note length is most impressive, as is the bass face.

You’re trying to do your best and entertain, but I could feel the enthusiasm draining from body. As we weren’t our normal compliment and line up, we couldn’t even view it as a paid rehearsal. The band leader is back there today to pick up some PA he had to leave behind, I wonder if he’ll get any feedback? If it’s, “You guys were great, really looking forward to having you back,” I’m going to spit! There was one upside, the load in was as easy as pie, parked opposite the side door, next to the stage, in, out, nay bother. However the stage was quite raised, with no stairs and all of us struggled to get on and off a couple of times .

Played a new venue for us. Sadly, we were without our keyboard and had a dep drummer (he did a fine job and was a nice chap too). It was a club and the president’s 50th birthday bash. A full house and an up for it crowd was promised - neither were in evidence. I honestly think they’d rather have played bingo all night (there were 2 sessions) and watched the England game, even though the gig was in Dundee (plenty were watching on their phones). Immediate, “You’re too loud,” without saying what was too loud, followed by 2 more (we weren’t, honest, they probably couldn’t hear themselves chat [mumble], thus too loud). There was a very small flurry of jigging around near the end and the occasional smattering of applause, but it was mostly crap and not worth the hour’s drive to get there. Home for just past 2. We’re supposedly back there in September, I hope they cancel.

My initial reaction is the power supply, but you’ve tried a different one (have you tried the Cali in isolation?). Whining doesn’t sound right at all, I’d contact the guys at Origin Effects.

^^^ This, all day long. I’m used to it now, but the last 2 rigs I have owned are very mid centric (they’re actually flatish, but coming from a scooped rigs made them sound very different) and I was super disappointed when I got the first one home, as the sound wasn’t what I wanted to hear. However, in a band mix situation, this is what works, which meant that when I bought my current rig I wanted it in the same eq ballpark. Haven’t looked back.

I do like a teardrop shaped case. What’s in it isn’t too shabby either.

Who has a killer bass that they've neglected for one reason or another?

My JMJ Mustang is doing the all business for me and my current band, my 2 custom Maruszczyks and Rob Allen MB2 don’t get out really. -
I’m away at the moment and there’s every chance that this will be sold by the time I can get to Dundee to snag it, so I might still be in.

Oh, oh! I feel a tier 2 failure in the offing…

And you’ve plainly lost control… …and what a way to do it - nice. -
I’m going to pile on with the Tech21 VTDI that @Cat Burrito suggests. I use one through my clean, Phil Jones rig.

Health of maple fretboard on a fender precision bass

Likewise, it’s all part of the history and mojo of the instrument. Old instruments tend to have dings and wear, unless they’re case queens and I’m suspicious of old basses that haven’t been played, i wonder if they’re not so great, therefore, unplayed. As to the cost, if you’re happy with the amount, it’s all good.
