  1. Grandad - Clive Dunn (I’m so very, very sorry 😞)
  2. C’mon, this thread stopped being fun a while back, now it’s heading towards spiteful. I note the emoji indicating jest and that’s exactly the kind of thing I would say. However, there have been a few, seemingly innocent, threads lately that have descended to the murky, levels of political and religious threads. Lockdown has brought our the worst characteristics of the keyboard warrior and it’d be a shame for BC folk to take a huge dislike to others or even the forum itself and certainly before new admin guidelines ask us to avoid politics, religion and tonewood 🤣.
  3. Surely this thread is done now? There are two camps here, ‘wood makes a difference on solid bodied instruments’ and ‘wood doesn’t make an appreciable difference on solid bodied instruments’. No one is changing their mind and some folk are getting bent out of shape. Let’s agree to disagree and get on with some actual bass playing. Rant over.
  4. These are hardly beginner lines, but I think we’ve moved on since the thread was started. A breakdown of Bakithi’s playing on Graceland...
  5. One of the greatest guitar solos ever.^^^ Roxanne - The Police
  6. Lovely idea. I’ve had the book for years and found it a thoroughly entertaining read, so much that I’ve read it twice.
  7. Who ever told you to post this was totally right. Very, very nice.
  8. I’m using drilled out, ball ends for the same reason.
  9. Sorry to derail your for sale thread, but what are you using for the spacers on the E & A strings?
  10. I'm sure the real blame resides beyond our esteemed luthier and purveyor of riveting build threads, rather a certain client who will remain untagged. The Superquad is a no brainer for a single pickup bass, as it's not actually a 'single pickup' bass.
  11. I believe @Sibob is the font of knowledge when it comes to Focusrite gear.
  12. If J width necks were my thing, I think that'd still be with me.
  13. It was a fab sounding beast too. It was one of the first run of Roadworns with an additional Seymour Duncan and Hipshot D Tuner fitted (plus other cosmetic shenanigans). The problem was, it was so light in the body that it had horrific neck dive (not helped by the chunky neck and D Tuner), which meant it gave me horrible shoulder pain. I will definitely revisit a double P at some juncture as it's the greatest sound IMO. A pair of Nordy Big Splits might be order of the day when that time comes - mmm.
  14. With bags of time on my hands, I thought I'd make up my list of 25 into a pictorial representation. All the photos are of the actual instruments, except the Yamaha BB300, RBX270, the Westone Thunder II and the MiM Jazz Fretless, which are the nearest ones I can match to my memory from the net. They are, as near as dammit, in order of acquisition (maybe one or two are out of sequence). Of these only the Maruszczyk Elwood Ls, the Rob Allen MB2 and JMJ Mustang (only 2 weeks old) remain.
  15. Cricket Lovely Cricket - Jah Thomas
  16. Ah, I see. That's OK then, as that would be terrible. This'll be great and bespoke too. I moved up to Scotland in December and @skelf is only a couple or so hours away. I don't 'need' a new bass, but that proximity is rather tempting. Keep us updated with the progress.
  17. Exciting times! But, how you lose a ‘Ray5? Have you sold it/part ex’d for something? I only ask as a friend of mine could find one of his medium format cameras recently and it was a huge beast. Weeks later he remembered that he’d moved it on () and he’s a young man not given to suffering from old boy’s memory.
  18. This ^^^ Also, keep an eye on the tube drive levels or do clean and driven examples.
