    Very true, but it’s fun to investigate these things. I completely revalved a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe once, I could just about hear a difference at home (as you say, at a gig, I wouldn’t have been able to tell), the big difference was swapping out the generic Emminence speaker for a Jensen (different transducers make the biggest differences IMO).

    IIRC, the very nature of 12AX7s is to break up early, which is why they’re favoured in a lot of the amps of those of a skinny stringed persuasion. Valves (or tubes for our North American brethren) are a veritable rabbit hole, with not only type, but origin. Good stuff.

    Thanks, it was taken in the Dolomites. That’s the Marmolada glacier in the background. We’re on the via ferrata, Trincee. Some great sport climbing in that area too.

    I read the text before looking at the photo and that is not boring, that looks ace, good work, Sir! If it were me, I’d colour the headstock, as it would tie the head to the body very nicely as the fretboard makes it look disassociated from the body (plus, you have the reverse for the complete head to tail look).

    Err, I can spit in a tissue or take a pin to my finger if you want. Oh, I see, from the keyboard players I mentioned. Are you cloning band members? Just when you thought BC couldn’t get weirder 😆. Sadly, they’re all about 500 miles south of me these days, but I could ask if they wouldn’t mind (hmm, on second thoughts that’s just wrong).
