Quality response. Kudos, Mrs Ped. 😆

One of his many build threads, but this deals extensively with truss rod replacement and neck repair That’s an extreme version, but just adding a washer, or maybe two, to add a little more back bend is a tried and trusted method. I had to add one to my Fender Roscoe Beck Signature when I first acquired it to reduce the amount of relief to the flatness I wanted. I had to ream out a washer I had to make it fit, like the guy says at the start of the video.

That's all very poor. Not good service at all. Thanks for the clarification. Any chance of naming and shaming?

Did the bass come with a long/lifetime warranty? If it didn’t, expecting it to be sorted out 5 years down the line, after 4 years of trouble free use, might be asking a bit much from the builder’s point of view. Did SIMS say it had been made badly at all? We all, myself included, want ongoing, trouble free ‘mileage’ from our instruments but, unfortunately, sometimes things just fail and we have to get them fixed. I’m not having a go, BTW, just looking for a bit more insight/playing devil’s advocate.

When I’m Cleaning Windows - G Formby

It was not, I was being controlled and sensible (for a change). An old fashioned turn of phrase certainly, I’m not sure why I used it.

Colour me unsurprised. They’re all good, you lucky duck.* *Ezbass flounces off in a jealous funk

Caught up in the problem rather than the fix. When I used to fix office equipment for a living, I’d often end up down a rabbit hole and need a fresh of eyes to look at it and say, “It’s that.” The BC hive mind is probably the best thing about BC, I’m glad to have been of service on this occasion. As mentioned above, an appropriately tied bandana is another option.

It depends what you’re wanting from it. Each of them does something different and if that’s the thing you’re looking for it’s the best. After reading @MGBrown’s comment, I went back and had yet another listen and the low down, solid sound of the G&L is beguiling, I really like it (it’s not unlike my Mustang, which I’m massively in love with currently). I like the ‘Ray for the added bit of nasal midrange that makes it sit well, but still stand out (if that makes sense) in that track. The Celinder, unsurprisingly, has elements of both the ‘Ray and the G&L due to its J bass DNA, which, to my ears, makes it less distinctive. Ultimately, as I opened with, it’s down to what you’re looking for, which leads to each of them being the best for a given set of parameters. If I heard any one of them on a recording or in a live setting, my ears would be happy.

They all sound good, but I think the cut and punch of the 'Ray lifts it to the top position.

Back in the bass owning fold. Just when you thought you were out, you were pulled back in again (to paraphrase Al Pacino). -

IIRC when Tony Levin recorded and toured with a cello (albeit a Steinberger one) he tuned it in 4ths, as normal tuning kept messing with his head. How this would affect an acoustic instrument is beyond my ken.

The Cardinal Black EP (I really like these guys) and John Mayer’s most recent release, Sob Rock (not his best, not his worst, no bad at all).

I used The Bass Gallery for my commission sales. Firstly, because I was selling a ‘bass that must not be mentioned’. Secondly, the commission was only 15%. Thirdly, they take care of any deliveries and insurance for said delivery. Finally, they deal with any issues by supporting the product for a couple of weeks after purchase. Each time I’ve used them, I’ve also paid for a BC seller’s subscription so that I can post a for sale thread here too.

I get the ‘electric companies don’t want you to know about this energy saving hack’ and ‘the eyesight product seniors are going mad for’ (or words to that effect). I have to wait for these to load before my iPad will let me access anything else on the forum (it’s becoming flaky recently).
