  1. “It was a bargain, I couldn’t leave it there.” The spirit of my late mum lives on. 😂
  2. I previously posted that my playing hadn’t improved and may have even taken a retrograde step. However, this has all changed. Since recently taking delivery of a new short scale bass (a JMJ Mustang) I’ve been playing way more and I think my chops have never been better. I don’t think it’s just a matter of playing more (although this is certainly a factor) but also taking to the new scale like a duck to water. This could well be the way of the future for me scale wise.
  3. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse
  4. That’s just wrong
  5. Y Viva España - Sylvia (childhood flashback 😬)
  6. Police & Thieves - The Clash
  7. The beauty of trade ins, as @adamg67 points out, is that it’s immediate and a lot less hassle. Along side that, and a way to justify the drop in instrument equity, is to think did you get £x worth of use/enjoyment out of it during ownership?
  8. Smarty Pants - First Choice
  9. It Takes Two - Marvin Gaye
  10. The Times They Are A Changing - Robert Z
  11. Ain’t No Sunshine - Bill Withers
  12. Ain’t Nothing Going On But The Rent - Gwen Guthrie
  13. Wilkommen.
  14. I like wide padded jobbies, I currently use the Maruszczyk ones that came with my basses. However, and this isn’t just Maruszczyk, I don’t like the ladder affair you get with most leather straps, I’d much prefer a sliding buckle that you get with fabric straps. There must be a hybrid out there that I’m unaware of (Monos come close, but really aren’t wide enough for me). Conversely, you could always make your own, a la Billy Sheehan:
  15. Echoes - Pink Floyd
  16. More More More - Andrea True
  17. And sold. Mods, please do your thing.
  18. I Know What I Like - Genesis
  19. Why not continue with the TE legacy and go Ashdown?
  20. Tears of a Clown - The Miracles
  21. See You Later Alligator - Bill Haley
  22. Andy Warhol - Bowie
  23. Trade in values are always going to be low, the shop will want to turn some profit on it (despite making a profit on the bass you’re buying) and then they have to pay VAT. Private sales are always the best way forward, as the shops will tell you. BC is a great place to sell, as you’re hitting your key demographic and is populated by a great bunch of folk. However, a third way is a commission sale through a shop, this way the onus for delivery is on the shop and you should see your bass on their website. I’ve used The Gallery in Camden for 3 items (15% commission) and can recommend them if you’re anywhere near them.
  24. Charlie Freak -Steely Dan
  25. Night Boat To Cairo - Madness
