  1. Good work, very prompt. Oh yeah, WOW! 😱
  2. Wow, that was quick! It was obviously meant to be, as these beasts don't come along very often; congrats. However, there is kind of an unwritten rule around these parts, we even have an emoji for it...
  3. C'mon this is BC, you should know better 😂. To paraphrase an old saying, put 2 BCers in one thread and get 3 points of view.
  4. I think they did this somewhere in Scandinavia (I want to say Denmark). Given that the drive-in movie is a very US thing anyway, you'd think that would be their first move.
  5. That is good news. Hopefully, it'll now be run a bit more sympathetically and efficiently.
  6. I use the 45-100 set and have a drop D tuner, sounds and feels fine.
  7. A new member arrives and already has GAS. You’re going to fit right in.
  8. That property is immense! Lee must’ve earned an absolute packet through the ‘70s in order to buy that, even if he had to mortgage. Great place to decompress after a tour and not a bad place to be in lockdown. His basset hounds are wonderfully daft.
  9. And I’d agree with you. Once Upon A Time In The West is such a great opener, such controlled, understated playing. That album also contains my favourite DS track ever, Single Handed Sailor.
  10. Nice and parpy*, bordering on rude down low. I like it very much. * I know what I mean by this, YMMV 😂
  11. Here's the thing, I do take an extra bass to gigs (or at least I did) one fretted and one fretless, as I needed both. In addition, I have a DI on pedal board, so in a way, I have a back up amp too. However, going forward, if I ever get to gig again with my '2 bass band', I'm going to try just taking the fretless and alter my playing style where appropriate.
  12. I’ve seen and played worse (a US MM 5 string Sterling springs to mind) but that does look wider to my eyes too. What you could do is, fill the G slot with cryo or epoxy glue and then just recut the slot on that nut.
  13. The famous ‘slap plates’ bass! I must now go to my happy place and repeat the mantra, “I don’t need three fretless basses.” EDIT: Oh hang on, that’s the piezo p/up (should’ve gone to a more reputable optician). I think I’m safe - phew!
  14. New models to include the clerks and silent bob.
  15. @ped’s old KS getting its own YT video here, together with a BC shoutout...
  16. Dunno, worth an email I'd have thought.* *TBH I'd forgotten about the 5 string stipulation
  17. The standard bridges have also come in for some criticism in the past (not from me) and the standard pots and knobs probably aren't quite premium either. A penny here, a penny there, etc. To be clear, I haven't had any issues with the hardware on my three.
  18. That is true, as have many others from things that I also think are throwaway rubbish. In the meantime, I've made nowt from anything I've ever written. Perhaps I'm just bitter? No, I still don't like it. Actually, to be fair, it's not just that I don't like it, it just seems unworthy of MK's talent, rather like Twisting By The Pool.
  19. Agreed. Throw away tosh to my ears, at best - filler.
  20. A set of Wilkinson’s will set you back £86. Folk seem to have a good opinion of basses fitted with these. https://www.jhs.co.uk/brands/wilkinson/wilkinson-pickups A set of Toneriders are sub £70 and, again, these have received some love on BC. https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/bass-guitar-pickups/
  21. Nice. I bet the final total for that was a bit eye watering.
  22. I wasn’t a fan of punk at the time, so when I saw the band name, Dire Straits, in the music press, I assumed it was just another bunch of talentless gobbers (the name does fit the genre, or so I thought). It wasn’t until some time later that I was in a pub and heard the most amazing guitar solo. I went quickly to the jukebox (ah, those were the days) to see what it was; lo and behold, it was Sultans. The dismissive attitude of youth had me coming late to the DS party. I picked up Communique cheap in a street market and bought the debut album shortly afterwards and these remain my favourite DS albums to this day. I also now have a much better appreciation of punk, but was obviously late (very, very late) to that party too.
  23. Whilst not defending any less than ‘quality’ craftsmanship, I think it should remembered that instruments of this level from other sources (not just the US) are quite a bit more moolah. I guess that, in addition to the location of the factory, some cheaper components is how the cost is kept down.

    Sterling SB14?

North London - The Gallery in Camden, is THE place to go IMO (lockdown advice notwithstanding).
