  1. To paraphrase the soup guy from Seinfeld, “No cake for you!”
  2. 🤔 You can't have your cake and eat it I'm afraid.
  3. Ah, then you need to play guitar, drums or sing lead vocals 😂.
  4. Thankfully, someone has bought the JMJ Mustang, I was starting to get very twitchy about pulling the trigger. Was it anybody here? If it was, absolute bargain!
  5. That JMJ Mustang caught my eye this morning; not sure I can resist much longer.
  6. You’re most welcome. You’ll find it under the ‘default’ sub category on the emoji menu.
  7. Last Friday you bought yourself a new protective, storage bag. Now it’s all fine. I feel the pain too, however. I having a burning desire to buy new stuff that, realistically, I don’t need. Hmm, I sense a conspiracy theory taking shape 😂
  8. They are irritatingly good aren’t they? Very pretty BTW.
  9. Double P heaven, right there.
  10. Yep, I feel your pain. I tried a Metro fiver a few weeks back and hoped I’d hate it; it was false hope. Nice score @AndyTravis, I’m not envious at all (I’m not, I’m not, I’m not 😬).
  11. Oh I don’t know about that; seems a bit harsh. Yes, there are and will be some boutique type lovelies, but there have already been some cheaper, workaday instruments shared. This isn’t meant to be a porn thread, as far as I can see, it’s meant to be what it says in the title and, yes, some of them will be porn and some may wish to show off but, for the most part, I think folks are sticking with the spirit of it. Nice Lull BTW.
  12. I just checked the invoice and it’s been 4 years since I had this bad boy built... Maruszczyk Elwood L, fretless, 33” scale.
  13. Our favourite venue has just cancelled us for the beginning of April. No real surprise, but a shame nonetheless. I had another gig 2 weeks later with another band that I had to get a dep in for (I’m supposed to be away - we’ll see about that I guess) but I reckon they’ll cancel too. Going to be an even leaner year than I anticipated. Hard to justify any GAS without some gigs .
  14. I played one of these the other day and I came to three conclusions: 1. They’re great. 2. I like the feel of short scales. 3. It was a mistake and I shouldn’t have done it.* *(for my GAS you understand).
  15. Phew! I thought it was just me. Guitarchat works ok, so it's just BC.

    Mustangs!

That is a super useful comparison. Well done, sir. 👏👏👏 Not helping my SS GAS in the slightest, however. 😂

    Mustangs!

Tried one of these on Thursday when I was really impressed. If the body had been a little larger, my credit card would’ve been sweating. Still not writing it off though, just want to try some other SS basses.
  18. I always think of scale length in inches, but nut width in mm. 🤪
  19. I had the same issue. Go onto Facebook and search for Sean Hurley, where you’ll find it; seems to play OK there.
  20. Oh oh! Short scale GAS!

This is acceptable only if it's one of ours! 😂

Tried the Gibson DC, s'alright, not the best set up or hardware; Gretsch budget version, awesome for the money; Fender Mustangs, really liked the JMJ signature, others OK but the body feels a bit small for my frame. The one I really want to try is the SWB-1 (@Chownybass rubs hand with glee 😁) but Anderton's won't have stock until the 20th according to their site :( . I've tried de-tuning one of mine 2 steps and putting a capo at the 2nd fret (pretty much 30" scale) and I am liking it. Now if I could just get a Mustang neck to fit my P type and get it intonate...

      Osiris

A shameless plug to a cracking short scale and a wonderful seller

  21. Whereas I like the charcoal and tort.
  22. I realise that I am massively late to the party, but how good is Steve Rodby? A keyboard playing friend of mine posted a Pat Metheny video on FB (as a guitar player for many a year, I’m aware of PT mainly through his work with Joni Mitchell) what I wasn’t ready for was Mr Rodby. His intonation on DB is exceptional, way better than many/most of the more established names IMO. To say I’m now a fan would be an understatement.
