Definitely ^ as a starting point. If that doesn’t locate a fault, try adding some mass to the headstock like a guitar capo if you have one, or any small clamp. If that makes a difference you could buy one of these https://www.thomann.de/gb/fat_finger_guitar_chrome.htm for a more specific solution.

You’re going to fit right in.

Welcome, handsome man.

I’ve never met him, but from the small amount I’ve seen in print and on the tv, this comes as no surprise. One of those situations where it would be ok to meet your hero.

Being creative and generating new music is great, long may this continue. However, I don’t understand why some folks are so sniffy about covers in popular music. In classical and jazz this is the norm. No one gets snotty about musicians playing Bach or Motzart, etc (as mentioned above by @Richard R) or playing stuff from the Real Book. Why is pop/rock any different? I play in an 80s covers band because I love the music and because a lot of what we play is particularly challenging/fun for the bass player i.e. me. Yes, there are some poor examples of pop covers bands out there, but I bet if I went to jazz jams, etc (is there a classical equivalent?) there’d be some some stuff that would make me wince too. It’s music and should be enjoyed for its own sake, whether original or cover. BTW I heard Bob Dylan’s original of ‘Watchtower’ on the radio the other day, I didn’t know it was so good (I’m not a Dylan fan) but it’s the Hendrix cover most people know and revere.

NBD: not quite what I had in mind- Ric content
ezbass replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Bass Guitars
If I’d have bought a walnut one instead of my fireglo maple, I might still have it. The walnut ones are so much lighter. Good shout on the bezel, they are a great addition. I bought my Ric in much the same way as you @Old Horse Murphy, I went looking for budget 5 strings, played the Ric (to see if they were still as awful as I remembered from a previous experience; it wasn’t, obviously) and realised I had to have it. Unfortunately, the weight, balance and lack of forearm contour meant I had to move it on ☹️. Iconic basses with a great sound (YMMV). -
Gah! Mirror mount?

Who influenced you to pick up and start playing Bass.

Not the person who inspired to pick up the low end machine, but certainly someone who wowed me at an early age: Joe Fagin (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Fagin). He used to play at a local pub in my youth with a drummer and keyboardist (IIRC it was just an organ). Having a great voice and full on front man charisma, not to mention great bass chops (first bass player I ever saw use chords on the bass) was enough to have this six string playing youngster spellbound on a Sunday lunchtime (their rendition of Tim Rose’s Morning Dew was stunning). He was also generous with his time, happy to share playing tips with my bass playing buddy. Other pub band players who have also drawn my attention and admiration (eventually leading to my full-time switch to the bass) were the late Andy Brown (B-Sharp) and Chris Childs (Bad Influence at the time, but now better known for playing in Thunder. Another top chap, happy to chat about gear, etc). -
That’s is sad, but I commend his decision. Burke is the Welsh Geddy in terms of voice and principal instrument. I do like me some Budgie.

Likewise (except for the Wal owning part ) and I agree, it was the right thing to do and what a result. The chaps at The Gallery are really good at what they do.

Nice one. However, we have a rule here on BC: photos or it didn’t happen 😉.

I tried playing with my ears, but they kept rolling over and my chin was continually muting. I don’t recommend it. Oh, is that my coat? It’s ok, I’ll get it myself.

Help! How can I try a Rob Allen MB2 in the UK?
ezbass replied to Basilpea's topic in General Discussion
I’m in Purley and you’re welcome to try mine. Thanks @Frank Blank for tagging me. -
I doubt moving the button position just a couple of mm will make a masdive difference. However, you could try drilling the snapped screw out. IIRC there is also a reverse thread product that allows you to screw into the broken one and once tight, removes the broken shank.

Who influenced you to pick up and start playing Bass.

I posted on page one that Pino was the reason that I picked the bass up. However, what I didn't mention was that some years after switching to bass, i was asked to play guitar in a band, which resulted in me going back to to the skinny stringed thing full time (for shame ). However, I still continued to really enjoy the low end of recordings and live acts more than the other elements. The start of the returning point was when I was listening to an Eric Johnson live album whilst doing the ironing (very rock and roll, I know 🤘) and really listening to what Chris Maresh was doing behind EJ, it occurred to me that that was what I wanted to do, support the song/lead musician, whilst still being to do my own thing. Here's a track from that album (fast forward to 1:50 to avoid the guitar intro shenanigans) And another written by Maresh
